  1. Stover is a good receiver, not such a good blocker. Better than Irv Smith or Tanner Hudson but he was late and whiffed on a lot of blocks for OSU last season.
  2. Got these results in the PFN mock. Their trade proposals seem pretty random.
  3. So MVP finalist Brock Purdy isn't on his list but guys like Lawrence and Murray whose stats were similar to Justin Fields make the cut? Jordan Love or Kirk Cousins deserve to be on the list more than Lawrence and Murray.
  4. Bowers is big enough. There had been claims he was only 6'2" and 230 or such.
  5. Those prices look low on the outside free agents. The Athletic had a choose your own adventure workbook a few weeks ago.
  6. Unless he has bad hands, Araiza has plenty of time to get the knack for holding.
  7. Sure, he wasn't asked to do much blocking. I could see Callahan go for him but Hudson bounced around the league for quite a while. I doubt there's a big market for him. Last year was a deep one in the draft for TEs. This year isn't as deep but lots of teams picked someone last season.
  8. We can give them snaps without making them unquestioned starters. I was overall not too impressed with Turner. He looks like he could be depth and possibly a successor to Hilton but he's not very big. It would be nice to add a veteran with some size. Tre Flowers seems like an obvious choice. He's 6'3". I don't want to start him either, just use him as a backup/competition for George or Davis. CB is probably a need for us and this draft has a decent group. But it's not a first round need at least until we fill some other positions in free agency. We won't go for a top CB in FA.
  9. They haven't had time to sell the seats to someone else yet so they should be willing to work with you. Did they refund your seat license?
  10. If Becton doesn't find a market the first couple of days, I could see him coming here for a year as cover for a rookie RT.
  11. But doing the minimum is a long Bengals tradition. They should have taken the Titans trade offer for pick 28 last year too. Fleecing QB-desperate teams is a good way to build your roster. Chicago took Carolina to the cleaners last year, Seattle is mid-rebuild thanks to the Broncos, Lions got back to contention quicker without Stafford, etc. Titans wanted to move from 41 to 28 for Will Levis. Bengals said no so they had to wait overnight for the Cards to trade pick 33 to them. Cards had the Titans 3rd rounder this year but they would have had to pay more to get to our pick at 28, which came with the 5th year contract option. At a minimum, we would have gotten their 2nd and 3rd rounders last year plus their 2nd this year. That could have been Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington from the last draft, which would fix one of our needs this year and help at another position. The early 2nd would be helpful too. I think Titans probably would have agreed to a swap of our 1st last year plus our 2nd this year for their 2nd and 3rd last season plus their 1st this year. That would be nice, getting Bowers at 7 plus Murphy or DeJean at 18.
  12. Depending on the game, there could easily be a couple hundred relatives of all the players. But the cafeteria should serve everyone working at Paycor. Unless the prices are high, I'd expect people from other departments to eat there too, not just players. I remember one time from Hard Knocks where the Rams had ticket sellers, groundskeepers, etc in the same area as players and coaches.
  13. Dehner says the team saves 6.1 mil by cutting Mixon so there must be some workout or roster bonuses in there too.
  14. Yes, it's that he's older now than he was 3 years ago. It's probably a perk she gets. They don't need her there to tell them not to swallow tobacco juice. The Bengals apparently have a nutritionist on contract, while other teams have 1 or more on staff.
  15. If they tender anyone, I might guess Irwin gets priority, just to avoid the loss of both him and Boyd in the same season. And maybe even a tag and trade for Tee.
  16. That's an easy one, it would be NT. Need to protect Burrow is a full season imperative. The NFL is a passing league so having a bad run defense isn't fatal, just annoying. And there are lots of ways to cover for a rookie DT who isn't up to speed right away.
  17. I'd be surprised if they were tendered, though the Bengals once tendered Josh Tupou. It was the highest pay of his career. There are different levels of tender but it would probably cost at least a couple mil each to have the rights for Hudson and Irwin. Maybe they are worried about Callahan poaching them or something but I think both could be resigned cheaper than that.
  18. It's really not too much to expect the team to offer similar amenities to other teams. Like, why is the cafeteria closed on Tuesdays, the player's day off? There are other employees at the stadium who might want to eat lunch that day, from the coaches to ticket sellers. Why don't they have a dietician or nutritionist on staff? That's pretty surprising in 2024.
  19. The DJ Reader of 2024 won't be the Reader of 2022 and 2023. He's coming off his second season-ending injury and most likely won't heal as quickly as he did the previous time. He should give the team a major discount for age and injury history but with the cap jumping up, I wouldn't count on it. Instead of giving DJ 15 mil per year, we should spend the money on other players. If we want a stopgap until a rookie is ready, then guys like Ashawn Robinson would fit the bill.
  20. Nobody is going to offer a top 10 pick for Tee. Nor any first rounder plus another pick. I could see an early second rounder from NE or another team with lots of cap space. If Callahan wants Tee badly enough, they might give up their second. Ironically, it's the second we'd already own if we'd taken their trade offer last year when they wanted into the first round for Levis.
  21. The second would be addition by subtraction but Perine didn't have a good year in Denver. Yes, Edwards runs with power, which is what Mixon gave us. Gus is an older RB but relatively low mileage. So I'm not afraid of bringing him in but we should be looking for a younger version in the draft as well. I'd prefer Estime but Allen would be ok too.
  22. Saw from another site that Mitch Wilcox, Trent Irwin, and Tanner Hudson will be restricted free agents this offseason. I doubt any of them are tendered by the team as they can probably be re-signed as unrestricted free agents for less than the tenders would cost.
  23. Or, we could have signed Araiza a couple weeks ago as I recommended. He's replacing Townsend in KC. Lots of players would be upgrades over Robbins in terms of kicking. I don't recall Robbins bobbling any snaps when holding or dropping any when punting. If Townsend wants a league average salary for a veteran punter, fine. If he wants top pay as an all-pro, then spend the money elsewhere.
  24. Since we're in the top 10 in cap space, even after tagging Tee, we should be able to add at least 1 high end outside free agent. NT or RT look like the best spots to sign a new starter. We can take a rookie to start at the other one. We aren't likely to re-sign (at least at the start of free agency) guys like Williams, Awuzie, Boyd, or Reader. We'll probably re-sign our depth guys after a couple of days unless they get a good offer elsewhere. But we should be able to add a $20 mil free agent somewhere. Or maybe we split it across more guys and draft BPA all the way through.
