  1. As a proud graduate of a Catholic high school, I hate when I hear stuff like this. The first example is hardly a Christian message, but at the same time, I’ve heard time and time again about how private schools don’t handle kids who need IEPs or special services very well so those kids wind up at public schools and do better there. The second example is greed, plain and simple, and hardly in line with the tax free status that churches enjoy. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not anti private/religious/Catholic schools, not at all. But hearing stuff like this troubles me.
  2. Wasn’t Hubbard playing hurt 😔 a lot of the year? That would explain the drop off in his performance. I have a feeling he’ll be back this year. I think we should try to get Flowers back. When he was here, for the first time in years, we actually covered a TE, and it will help with DJ Turner’s development.
  3. I remember him hitting a home run in the 1975 playoffs against Pittsburgh.
  4. There was a shooting at the KC celebration. 1 dead, 21 injured. https://abcnews.go.com/ 😢
  5. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/mlb/reds/2024/02/14/don-gullett-former-cincinnati-reds-and-yankees-pitcher-dies-at-73-big-red-machine-world-series/72602088007/ He was my mom’s favorite Reds pitcher. My very first game was the night that Don Gullett took a Larvell Blanks line drive off of his thumb, breaking it and causing him to miss 2 months of the 1975 season. 😢That wound up being the impetus for Sparky Anderson to become “Captain Hook “. He blamed himself for leaving him in too long.
  6. They're using this as an argument for Tee to wait. We know he could go to most teams and be a #1 receiver, but is he better or equal to any of these guys? Also, I would think all of these guys hitting the market next year (if they all hit the market, which I don't see happening), would lead for a crowded WR market and diminish his value, not enhance it. I know this year, there's a deep crop of WRs coming out. I don't know what the projections for 2025 look like.
  7. And Mark Andrews in Baltimore, although it remains to be seen how he will recover from his leg injury.
  8. No. Some outfit called Carrie's Cookies from New Albany. One of my clients hosts a weekly meeting of New Albany merchants and businesses in one of our conference rooms, so I'm guessing that's where they came from.
  9. Came into work this morning, went to get coffee ☕️, and was greeted with this at the coffee station.
  10. I think they mass produce it for both teams and the losing team's gear gets shipped to Africa somewhere. Kids in Africa are running around in Bengals Super Bowl Champs gear somewhere. https://www.swagcycle.net/what-happens-to-the-losing-teams-championship-merchandise/#:~:text=Branded merchandise companies pre-print,created for the losing team%3F Also, hubby had a 7 stage parlay on the game. All that had to happen for it to come in was for SF to win by 2 points. All the player bets came in.
  11. She’s not even wearing Chiefs gear. What kind of fan is she, anyway? 😂
  12. No. Why would I retire as a Bengals fan when they’re the top of the heap?
  13. Not just “poor” whites. In the State of Ohio, a family of four that makes up to $135,000.00/year can get vouchers to send their kids to private schools. Over 13 years (K-12), this can add up to $88,000.00 per child if the maximum benefit is used. The expansion was just rolled out this year, and the number of families receiving vouchers nearly doubled. Out of the 32,000 new voucher requests, 28,000 were from white families. So basically, some families that were paying their own way are now letting the state pay for their kids’ education. And I’m willing to bet that the majority of it is going to Catholic or Christian schools. And there is still an issue because in the rural areas of Ohio, especially Appalachia, there aren’t a lot of private schools that kids in those areas can access, and a lot of those areas are the ones that need the help the most because they are the most underfunded because they collect the least in property taxes. School funding in Ohio was declared unconstitutional in 1997, and nothing has been done to fix it in 27 years. The lottery was supposed to go towards education. All that did was divert funds to other parts of the budget. Now the state legislature wants to reduce or eliminate the income tax because Ohio has a robust rainy day fund while some kids in our public schools are going to school in buildings with ceilings tiles falling down, no AC, and other issues. I remember when I was in grade school (I went to Catholic school), it was a big deal when our school got money from the state. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough to buy some office equipment. I remember how our teachers had to be really careful about not using that equipment to print anything religious or anything for religion class. How did we get from there to the state paying for religious education?
  14. In Myles Garrett's defense, he did miss 2 games and was playing hurt a lot of the year so that may have affected his stats. I can see why Damar Hamlin did not get Comeback Player of the Year. He hardly played. It was a great story but did not translate to the field. I can't really fault Jim Schwartz as DAOTY. The Browns defense was excellent this year and a large part of why they made the playoffs. I think DeMeco Ryans should have gotten COTY, but Kevin Stefanski did have to deal with a ton of injuries, especially on the offense so I see why he got it. Lamar Jackson as MVP-Nope. Nope. Nope. Again, defense kept the Ravens in a lot of their games. Cameron Heyward as Man of the Year-Again, Nope. Nope. Nope. Ted Karras was much more deserving. GTFOOH with these 2 choices.
  15. He very well may not. But he might with the Taylor Swift connection. Or he may jump back and forth between that and Marc Levin. If he does, I may sit in the room and do something else and casually look up occasionally.
  16. Neither. A great chasm could open up and swallow both teams whole, for all I care. Normally we make a big deal of the Super Bowl at our house. We indulge in lots of salty snacks and dips, but my son is going to be out of the country and I probably won’t even watch it.
  17. I Googled and found this: https://www.blackmindsmatter.net/black-owned-schools-directory/?keyword&state=CA&type&view-toggle=grid These all look like charter, Christian or private schools in California. Apparently there's a nationwide network of Black-owned schools. I couldn't find anything on all Black public schools in California.
  18. Probably not even Bengal game compliant. I don't buy designer bags, but even if I did, this is a hard pass.
  19. Gee, would it be an AFC championship for KC without any controversy?
  20. Hopefully this will shut up the MVP talk for Jackson also.
