WhodeyUK and IKOTA Go To Amsterdam!

My wife is a Dutch citizen and her father and stepmother live here in Amsterdam so we are visiting them on the 2nd leg of our vacation (1st was Dublin, Ireland as her mother and their side of the family live there---my wife is half irish half pakistani). Dublin was wonderful and I will post some pictures that I took there when I get a chance as my laptop is out of battery and I need to find a damn converter for the outlets here in order to charge it back up. We visited some pretty cool places in Ireland but now I am onto the part of our vacation I was really looking forward to......AMSTERDAM.

Besides the obvious reasons, I am looking forward to Amsterdam for another reason. I will be meeting up with WhodeyUK tomorrow morning where we will visit some coffee shops and sushi bars........we will try to take photos and share them for anyone who gives a damn. It should be a good time, I remember coming here in 1999 during my second year of college and had an absolute blast! That experience gave me a pretty good idea of the good spots to hit up while we're here, but if anyone who has been here has some ideas......please share so that we can consider them.

Holla! :headbang:

You mean the coffee that's similar to Chinese food in that the more you drink, the hungrier you get?

Exactly. In Amsterdam, they put MSG in their coffee in place of sugar so you always want more coffee. It's what keeps the coffee houses in business.

Had a great time, IKOTA. Glad we could meet up. Thank your Mrs and inlaws for letting me steal you away for the day.
You already live in Europe (technically), then you go to Amsterdam, meanwhile us Yanks are stuck here in the Colonies...
I say we need a revolution against you Brits!

How are your lungs feeling after all that "smoggy Amsterdam air"? I bet your kidneys are worn out from ALL that coffee from those coffee shops, too.

Not even close.
IKOTA is Pakistani, with little to no terrorism in mind, except for poisoned curry dishes. I still can only talk out of one side of my mouth.

The IKOTA pic I posted was a Pakistani too--in fact, the Father of Pakistan:

My lungs feel great. My athsma seems to be cured, actually
My kidneys are back to normal, too. It took a lot of work to get them flushed out, after drinking water and coffee all day with IKOTA on Wednesday, but luckily there was enough Heineken in Amsterdam to get me back to normal by the time I caught my flight home

If I don't stick to my plan of cutting down on beer soon, I'm going to look a hell of a lot more like John Goodman than I'd like to admit...

If only the restaurant inside was as cool as the Waag itself...

Some random building down the block from Bluebird coffeeshop. I had to take a pic to see if these colors would look the same when I was sober :P

Aside from the coffeeshops, which I'm guessing by your login you would obviously be interested in :), Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Aside from the sidewalk cafes and open squares that are typical in Europe, the many canals and bridges make for interesting strolls through the city. The people are also very friendly, and they don't tolerate rudeness. I terrific combination, imo.
