claptonrocks Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Im combining threads on both of these players.. Brandon Albert.....I believe is the best Olineman in the draft in terms of versatility and how he opens up schemes... Jake Long may turn out to be a great ORT but he'll never be great at LT because for all his accolades he doenst have quick feet. Let him lock on at the point of attack and its over but speed rushers will take advantage of his inabilty to work those feet quickly enough. He's a mauler like Whit and is suited at RT .. Brandon Albert and Ryan Clady have what scouts refer to as "dancing feet"....Your cant be an elite LT in the NFL if you cant dance. Howie Long and Mike Mayok have both made comments regarding Albert in space..he's going to be a great pulling guard..he's fast and can deliver a big punch .....He could develope into a primo LT in time as well with his size 6'6 310lbs, long arms and quickness.... Whoever selects him has a prize imo.. As for Jeanty......I think he may come into his own this year.... seems all the pub goes to Odell, Brooks, Dhani or anyone but him.. Did anyone notice that the defense improved remarkably when he came back to man the SAM position last year.... maybe Im over valueing his potential but I like the guy's talent....stong, very hard hitter, pretty good cover guy and hopefully can add blitzes to his arsenal this year... just seems to fit the term "football player" to me...... Im in the majority in hoping the team drafts someone for the front seven with their first pick but if they decide on Brandon Albert I wont be upset. He along with Stacy and Whit give the team alot of big versatile lineman for the coming years...
Inigo Montoya Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I agree with you about Branden Albert. His stock has steadily been on the rise and teams think he can play LT. He might end up going to NE at #7 if they can't trade down. I don't really agree about Jake Long. He'll play LT and he'll be good. He never struggled against speed rushers in college. He absolutely dominated Derrick Harvey. As far as Jeanty goes, I see him as a solid role player, but probably never better than that. He'll always be somewhat of a liability in coverage.
The Scales Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I liked what very little i saw of Brandon on the Network. "Fat Albert" is not appropriate. . . strong, and muscluar . . . dynamite feet, reminds me of Levi. Practicing against Howies boy didn't hurt none either.

Edit: I thought your were talking about Albert
Bengals1181 Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I like Jeanty as well and think he's a very capable starter, but he's going to get pushed this year by both Henderson and Blackstock. IMO both are better athletes than Jeanty and have more playmaking potential, but lack the experience he's gained over the last 2 years. The SLB position race is going to be fun to watch and I'm anxious to see who ends up emerging by midseason.

Kochman Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I think Jeanty as I have said before is easily the most underrated guy on the team. He will be pushed but I think he will be a starter again this year.
