The Scales
The purpose of this thread is nominate players by position so that when I make up the final voting polls for the GO BENGALS ALL TIME TEAM, I'll have, five or six players at each spot. This thread is for the Defense. Suggestions are welcome for the format of the final poll. Onward.

He had a great first 8 games his rookie year, and was mediocre after that. I considered Tovar, but I certainly didn't see him in my top 3 at ILB/MLB, and thought Brian was maybe a little better. Beauchamp wouldn't be a bad add though.

He was a good long term dependable player which is something rare on the defensive side of ball for the Bengals. Tovar was probably a bit better in his prime but he didn't last very long. BTW, don't forget that Tommy Casanova was a damn good punt returner as well. He is #3 all time for the Bengals. I remember White being a very good player back when the Bengals had a very good defense. But there are no stats on tackles or sacks or anything. Since he never made any Pro Bowls there is not a lot to go on when recommending him, but the guy was a starter for 12 years in the NFL. The four years that he was here ('72-'75) our defense ranked 3rd, 8th, 11th, and 7th in the league. Later he was a starter for the number one defense in the league at Buffalo ('80). sois
The Bengals have never had a truly legendary player on defense. The only reason I like Fulcher so much is because he was awesome on Tecmo Bowl. I guess in my Bengals watching lifetime (1990 to present, but only really started watching all the games in 2004 or so with DirecTV), there hasn't been a real stud in the bunch. Some above average guys, but no legends.

Superbowls get you inductions as was witnessed by Lynn Swann getting in with only 5462 yards in receiving. Issac Curtis had 1600 more yards than that.
