Marvin must have a plan

Recommended Posts

The Bengals today waived third-year S Siddeeq Shabazz along with two rookies, WR Sale' Key of Idaho State and S James Young of Georgia Southern.

Not even waiting until training camp. He must like what he sees in the other guys, or has a plan yet to be revealed.

Those are completely false. Then Bengals are not going to move a linebacker to safety.

And why not? He's got the speed and he's not too big.

Why wouldn't they try it? It appears that LBs are set. Having Miller as the Safety would make sense. Linebacker mentality at the safety position is something we've lacked the past couple of years.

Of course, he would be much of coverage safety but more of a run stopper safety.

So are you telling me that neither waiver wire pickup nor a rookie FA will be starting in our secondary ? I find that incredible.

Some people here forget why players don't get drafted or are released.

Marvin has stated in several press conferences that we don't have a linebacker that could play safety... He went so far as to SCOFF at the idea.

He was very firm about it... I don't think he would backtrack on that now.

It sounds like some guys weren't going all out in practice; easy come, easy go..I don't think we lost much of anything cutting those guys, maybe this means we will make a run a Lance Schulters...dare to dream.

I like the "Hobson proof" line, Bres sounds like he's full of personality, that's what you need from a defensivie coach, imo.

Have you ever watched Caleb Miller try to cover a WR?
i dont think so either. he pretty much rulled out that idea in his News confrence.. But u know how sneaky he can be.. he has something up his sleeve

I don't think he is planning on any big surprise. As much as some hear hate to hear and accept it, Kim Herring barring injury will be back there w/ Madieu. We don't really know what level he will perform at since he was coming off an injury as was put into a new position b/c of injury for us.

Khalid Abdullah would make a MUCH better Safety than Miller.
But like it has already been said a couple of times...Marvin said
he wouldn`t turn any of his LB`s into a Safety.

I would rather see Abdullah at safety than Miller, also...

But, yes, again... no LB is going to move to safety
Sale' Key looked like a good athlete.

He looked slow to me, he plodded and didn't look very sudden or quick....I only saw the footage on the website, compared to the other guys atleast, imo

Also, I'm watching highlights of the Ravens SuperBowl 2000 win and they just showed Herring getting an interception, he should have something left in the tank..So it would also be nice to re-sign our current guys whose contracts will be up after the season.

Interesting you said that, the other day I was in the magazine store and in between looking at porno mags I checked out the last Sporting News CFB 06' edition. Unfortunately they only had SEC teams, I'm in NYC and all I get is SEC stuff, go figure. Didn't really see anybody that stood out, it's still very early..One guy I loved to have but he won't be around is Devon Hestor from the U, he'll be a top 5 pick in 06'. Maybe Carson can give us a scouting report on this guy...Darnell Bing

Bing is an adorable cuddly wuddly teddy bear (not meeting USC's requirements...), but he is a monster in NCAA Football 2005.

I think Herring will do very well though.

I'm no OSU homer, but I think Nate Salley could be just what the doctor ordered for this defense. He's the big, physical, run-stopping safety we need.

Devin Hester has NFL speed but what position does he play? WR and CB? University of Miami better make a decision on that quick. OSU moved Gamble permanantly to CB and I think that was best for him. First and Second rounders have to have a position they excel at to contribute right away. You cant use a first or second or third round pick on just a return man.
