From The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer: “Hillis pulled up lame in practice on Friday with a re-injury of his pulled hamstring. He threw the football and his helmet to the ground in frustration. He underwent an MRI and is expected to be out at least a couple of weeks.” And there’s even speculation that Hillis has played his last game with the Browns. Unbelievable. Still want to deny the Madden Curse? And it gets worse. According to Yahoosports.com, a group of teammates pulled Hillis aside recently and, in so many words, told him they’ve had enough of his act. Their opinion of him apparently plummeted when they saw him throwing passes from midfield to the crossbar prior to the San Francisco game. He missed that game with his hamstring injury. The Plain Dealer also reports today that some players were upset when Hillis went back home to Arkansas to get married last Tuesday when he should have been getting treatment on his hamstring. Teammates apparently have been skeptical of Hillis ever since he sat out a game with strep throat on the advice of his agent, making it look like he sat out in protest of not having his contract extended. Just a wild guess here, but somehow I don’t see the Browns reaching into their pockets for a guaranteed $10 million now. Hence the speculation about Hillis having played his last game in an orange helmet. This quote, from Joe Thomas to Yahoosports.com, kind of says it all: “A few guys tried to talk to him, to make him understand the best way to go about things is to put your head down and do the best you possibly can. Because if the Browns aren’t going to pay you, some team will break the bank - and either way you need to play hard.” This one, from an unnamed veteran to Yahoosports, is pretty telling, too: “I’ve never seen anything like it. Last year, Peyton was such a positive, inspirational force on our team, but now he’s like a different guy. It’s like he’s in a funk that he can’t get out of, and it’s killing us, because we really need him. And we’ve told him that. But we’re at the point where we just don’t know what to do.”
|Bunghole|
I hear his agent is also his brother. Probably not for the best.
Cat
Man, I just can't get tired of readin shit stories for the Browns. The only thing that would make it better, were if it were a sob story about the stealers and teammates turning on each other.
