Posted September 12, 20231 yr comment_1716489 Not sure how accurate this is but it's an initial look at the cap hit of the new contract: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals/joe-burrow-47594/
September 12, 20231 yr comment_1716501 Some outlets are talking $100mill bonuses in the next year. My guess is they'll restructure it in a couple years. That's what other teams do https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10089169-bengals-rumors-joe-burrows-contract-details-bonuses-revealed-for-record-275m-deal
September 12, 20231 yr comment_1716528 It's odd they used roster bonuses instead of a signing bonus. The latter can be prorated over multiple seasons while the former count on the cap in the year they are paid.
September 13, 20231 yr comment_1716709 I thought the same thing. They are limiting Burrow's hit next season so they can afford Tee's franchise tag. Already pricing it in.
September 14, 20231 yr comment_1716862 They could also just push Jamar's extension to 2025, after his 4th year. If they decided on a tag and trade with Tee, that would open things for Jamar to get his new deal next year.

CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson were eligible for an extension this year, and didn't get one. Tee's different since he wasn't a top pick, so only a 4 year deal vs. the others, who will get the 5th year. I'd be surprised if Tee gets an extension, even though I love the player. But I do expect either a tag and trade, or he plays on the franchise tag in 2024.
