-GoBengals- Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 anyone a listener? for those who used to listen to Hear that Podcast growling, the athletic dropped them and Paul Dehner jr starter it with Jay, but on fridays they have some comedian co host, who sadly, isnt funny, jay is the best person on the show, into stats, football and details, paul seems to be trying to be a friendly MoEgger I dont mind Paul, but the episodes with the comedian are unlistenable. its almost like they script things to "randomly" go on tangents about, and the comedian makes up fake jokes of life experiences that never happened, and if they did still arent that funny. did have the homie josh sneed on to fill in a week or two ago, Josh is funny. anyone listening, feeling the same way? also there are no good regular bengals podcasts, the locked on is atrocious, the younger redhaired ish dude with power rangers in the background is a fucking clown, after like 10 years he still comes across as a 8th grader pretending to be a sports coverage guy. the dark hair guy, is like listening to a librarian who just did a dab, and gets his football opinions from twitter. its a trash show, i cant fucking watch it/listen to it. Bengals booth is great, but its random, once a week at best, and too short. good interviews, old school style. Lapham first star logistics podcast is mostly good, occasionally he is just rambling, but good guests at least, dave is a goofy interviewer so sometimes it feels wasteful, but i listen about 60% of the time. the bengals on the brain first star logistic with goodberry fucking sucks, when its draft time, cap time or free agent time, he has 2-3 good podcasts, but he sucks, and again with fucking power rangers in the background... the fuck is with bengals podcasters and the power rangers? the nuggets podcasts out here are phenominal, so maybe im spoiled, but man bengals coverage is hard to come by. there is a bengals beat one too but i dunno why, the chick gets good guests but she sucks, kelsey conway, i hate her anyway, her voice and coverage feels like she reading a teleprompter, im actually 100% sure shes reading off a teleprompter... its brutal. she sucks. whose paying her? i hope its not much she sucks at everything. there are a bunch of low budget lacking professionalism podcasts out there. i cant listen, bad audio, vlume issues, and random fans babbling on really. anything im missing out on? i occsionally hit ross tucker podcast and the business of sports under his umbrella, but he is getting so busy with roadcasting his podcasts feel rushed and half assed lately, the business of sports ones are great but really just info dumps about contracts, interesting but not exciting/fun. 1 Quote

As you alluded to, there are a lot of "Fanalyst" podcasts out there which can be tough listens. Goodberry's is sort of hit or miss for me. Can't do Locked On Bengals. The Growler with Paul and Jay I think is still the best, haven't watched an episode with the "comedian" he has on, just the ones with Jay and Balds Don't Lie. Bengals booth and In the Trenches with Dave Lapham are again sort of hit or miss for me. It sounds like you are a fan of Jay's, he has his own podcast with ProFootball Network, check it out: Jay is good as usual, his co-host Dallas is a little dry. I occasionally listen to the Jungle Roar podcast with Mike Patraglia. He is pretty robotic and the flow of the show isn't all that great but he does get some halfway decent guests every once in a while I guess. I guess after typing all of this out there really aren't that many great choices after all lol 1 Quote
texbengal Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 I listen to a number of them, on occasion. Lap gets good guests but he's too much of a cheerleader. I mean, I get it, but not a ton of objectivity. PDG is pretty annoying... not funny but he tries to be. Some decent content, because he does have a finger on the pulse of the team, seems like. Jay is pretty good. The other show with the comedian is mainly Q&A from listeners, so it's actually not bad. I do like the "walkout" pod with PDJ and Jay after the games. Interesting to get their perspectives when it's fresh. The best pod IMO is the one that Dan Hoard does - he seems prepared, gets interesting guests most of the time, and asks good questions. Even though he's a Bengals' employee as well, he is willing to "tell it like it is" more than the others do, from what I've seen. The Locked On pod is... meh. Sometimes it's OK. I can appreciate that, especially during the offseason, there's not a lot to discuss, but they try. Goodberry works at it with his film study... I don't always agree with his takes (not that that matters) - he's OK. But yeah, the "fan" casts for the most part are underwhelming... but it seems like everyone has a pod these days. Kudos for people trying, I guess. 2 Quote
HereSince68 Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 I listen to Locked On on my daily 3-5 mile walks but I have to listen at 1.5x to avoid falling to sleep while I'm walking! I like Rapien but Liscow is boring as hell. At least Rapien has locker room and press access to the players so we can get some good first hand info 2 Quote
claptonrocks Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 There's a place out there for a great Bengal podcast. Its just not here yet....😎 Quote

Used to like Mo Eggars take on the team but he seems to be everywhere now and don't catch him much. Love Lap but hes a homer a lil to much. Locked on Bengals is to drawnout and now boring. Rapien needs to dump Liscow asap.. Better to come here to the board and get my info. 2 Quote
Jamie_B Posted June 25, 2024 Report Posted June 25, 2024 I listen to Locked On I sometimes listed to Lapham I listen to Malik Wright sometimes during the draft but he comes off kind of arrogant 1 Quote

I have a couple of 9 hr flights coming up that ill be in need of content to watch/listen to. 12 hours ago, claptonrocks said: Used to like Mo Eggars take on the team but he seems to be everywhere now and don't catch him much. Better to come here to the board and get my info. yea mo egger is random, he used to infuriate me, when the teams doing well he is tolerable. he just doesnt know ANYTHING about football, he just has a 20 year career of reporting vague things that have happened in sports in the city, so he acts like he knows a ton. but many times ive found myself wondering wtf he is talking about. sort of the type of guy who thinks when burrow goes down and the team loses that zac taylor needs fired, like the guy who cant accept the realities in the sport. the mentality of if you didnt win a ring you gotta make big changes type guy. 6 hours ago, Jamie_B said: I listen to Locked On I sometimes listed to Lapham I listen to Malik Wright sometimes during the draft but he comes off kind of arrogant malik had his 15 minutes of fame a few years ago, id bet if you tracked his correct and incorrect rumors and then see who left the staff at the same time his connection to the team could be tracked down, and has been gone a few years... he also sounds like he is 13. AND all of the guys he does cross promo shows with, all look and sound 13, so i cant really take it seriously. 2 Quote
