Our Great President Trump gave his approval to this moderate thinking Pope.. Hope all works out for the Catholics after suffering this last evil Pope. Work on pedofilia under a new regimen instead of the weak nonsense rhetoric the last idiot preached or served to. Sure wasn't Christianity... Quote

He produced teen beauty pageants and openly bragged about barging into their dressing rooms. He's a rapist that gloated about getting away with sexual assault because he's famous. You voted for and devotedly serve an obvious pedophile. Anyone that challenges your master you call "evil". Over time, I've since changed my theological views to something more akin to Platonism: I consider myself a hylozoic monist who does not believe that there is an anthropomorphic aspect to divinity. In other words, I don't believe there is a "Being in the Sky" who pays any attention to human affairs--collectively or individually-- and hence, all attempts to propitiate such a divine being are futile, juvenile, and essentially pagan. As Shakespeare said: "The fault, Dear Brutus..." But then again, Cassius was an oligarch. So, he identifies the problem, but misses the point. My mother is 91 this month. Feeble, frail, I'm now (and have been for some years) taking care of her. Her mind is pretty gone, sadly. She is but a shadow of the woman who instilled in me the desire to learn, to improve my understanding, and whom is responsible for much of that within me is good (and it's my fault alone for the bad.) She is still a pretty devout Episcopalian and I take her to church as often as she feels like going. It's a nice church, the people are mostly honorable and fine folks, some of whom are my friends. So I occasionally take part when my Mom goes to church dinners, etc... .But I do not attend the services. Every once in a while someones asks me why. So I tell them it is a matter of principle. The Anglican Church renounced the filioque within the Nicene Creed in the 70s, although it did allow for individual churches to keep it. But if you look in the Episcopalian Book of Common Prayer, you'll find brackets around this part of the Nicene Creed. It is my belief that the concept of the filioque is an essential element of any form of Christianity for philosophical reasons. There is a long history of debate on this, going back to the early days of Christianity. After a lot of research and thought, I chose my side long ago. Now Jamie is right, new Popes often select a name which gives some indication of their philosophical leanings and in this case, it's pretty interesting. I'll be reading through Leo XIII's papal bulls in the coming weeks, but I already know of this letter from my earlier consideration of the filioque: It is Apostolicae curae and it has many of the same objections about Anglicanism that I do. Are you a human, or not? And what does that mean? As Socrates said; "The unexamined life is not worth leading." 5 Quote

Are you a human, or not? And what does that mean? As Socrates said; "The unexamined life is not worth leading." My parents met at Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Mt. Vernon, Ohio (after Dad turned down a full ride to Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY, one of the top Music Schools in the country, for his voice. Didn't like the big city of Rochester, ironically, he would go on to join the Army and go to many big cities). So we grew up having a Nazarene background, but with Dad being in the Army, all the on-base churches were typically non-denominational. My formative years when we lived in Nuremberg we would go to the Army Hospital behind the apartments we lived in and go to those services, so I had no real connection to being a Nazarene or even understood the differences between it and other denominations growing up, would only later find out the main differences after going to a Baptist college when I first went off to school (would later drop out and go to George Mason, and glad I did) here in Virginia. Yes, that one. I had no idea about the founder, and who he was or their political ideals, I was just a naive 19-year-old who wanted to avoid all the worldly partying that went on on normal college campuses (ironically I would partake in at least some of that later after leaving the university). That experience formed my pushback on the ideals that people like Clapton and other right-wing ideologues. It's ironic when you are forced to spend time in the word to only find out much of what these people preach is Anti-Jesus. Much like the Pharisees there are good people there but they should be pushed back against like Jesus did to the Pharisees, but there are also some very evil and manipulative people there that are entirely about having power (also like the Pharisees). It's why I say people like Ralph Reed and his ilk are pure evil. These days I've all but left the weekly Baptist church in favor of a men's bible Study with a bunch of millennials here in DC, one of the guys who was in it at one time went to an even more conservative university than I did, much of us call ourselves "recovering", because as it turns out when you pay particular attention to the Red Letters, this Jesus guy was far more radical than the modern church and alot more radical than these "moderate" Popes, so when I see the ones like Francis and now Leo remind us about Jesus' charge to defend the poor and the immigrant, I am heartened. Hell if Clapton really wants to get into it I can point out a verse that sounds like some of the early Christians were basically Communists before that word existed, but like I said he doesn't really want to get into this. 2 2 Quote

Because that is the version of Jesus the GOP is now. Certainly not Christan. Which would be fine as we are supposed to keep our Church and State separate, but when the GOP wants to court Christian Nationalist, expect pushback because Christian Nationlism..... IS. NOT.
