Sports Illustrated does full article on Bengals O-line guru

Recommended Posts

This weeks edition (Nov 2) of Sports Illustrated has a feature article on Paul Alexander.  They go into detail about how the Bengals O-line has been in pass protection this year.  They also point out that the Bengals are #1 in pass protection over the 8 years that PFF has been ranking O-lines, and that the Bengals have been very consistent by ranking in the top 6 every year except one.

They also give a lot of technical details about how the pass protection techniques that PA teaches is pretty much different from every other team in the league.

And, finally, did any of you know that PA invented a blocking sled called the "Rogers Lev Sled" with pads that can be lifted to help players develop the proper technique of driving with their hips.  It is now being used by all teams.

Good to see Paul finally getting some of the recognition he deserves.

Overrated.  They looked like shit most of the day, had drive-killing penalties that took away certain pts & that snap from Bobo nearly killed us.  Sorry but that's the truth of it.  Paul Alexander eats paste.  Whitworth is the only PBowler on that line although Boling has looked good in games.

In b4 but we're 7-0.  Obviously they've been good enough but they're going to need to be better.  Let's not pretend they're out there dominating everybody.  We've won some close games that were only close because of strip-sacks & the offense going in reverse at times. They're talented but inconsistent which is 100% coaching.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Snyder will hire him, too?

didnt look their best yesterday, but they dominate quite a bit, thats pretty clear to see.  The Stealers get paid to play too.  Sometimes, when the other team is paying their players, they earn their money.  All in all, aside from the defense, the Bengals were not at their best yesterday.  Some shit was due to their own error, some was due to the Stealers defensive gameplan.  However, they won, so all is good in sports world and they will get another crack at it in three days.

Truth be told this group/line are equally as good and IMO better than the famed 1988 line.   However you can't say that because they don't have post season success and don't have the sure fire Hall Of Fame tackle and people can't wrapped their minds around it.

Yeah it seems hinge on focus. Just when we started to look focused. The ghost of Gresham and his false starts slipped in.
