Yes the teenager of the group who looked up to the crazy bastard also shares your feelings ...

I like most animals (except sharks as you all know).... and I like that he worked for conservation .... but he crossed that line with nature and liked to harass and wrestle wild animals for the fun of it. He did it to shock others ... and make money through his risky behavior .... well now his luck ran out .... and his wife and kids will just have to make ends meet on the millions he left behind from jumping on crocs and snakes ...

If there is any consolation to his fans, Irwin is in heaven now annoying the hell
out of all the dinosaurs, woolly mammoths, sabertooth lions and dodo birds up there.

I don't see any humor in this at all... I can see the irony, sure, but it sure as hell isn't funny.

Since this is a football forum---

What about the guys that get seriously injured or killed playing football? Is it funny because they put themselves in that situation? I mean what kind of sane person takes a job where 300 pound crazy men are trying to kill you? Someone that loves the game and is doing what makes them happy with the hopes their passion will support them and their families.

The croc hunter was doing the same thing. He knew the dangers, but decided it was worth it.

Not completely unexpected- but tragic nontheless. RIP.

Humans are not meant to jump on the backs of wild man eating animals .... he made his living jumping on the back of crocodiles and thought he was invincible .... he thought that the laws of nature did not apply to him .... he made millions by harassing animals and fucking with them .... well ironically a sting ray decided to send him a message that he wasn't welcome in their reef ....

He started a phenomenom of people thinking that there is no barrier between people and wild animals ... well there is .... Crocodiles and 20 foot snakes are not meant to be pets nor humans friends .... if you fuck with them, don't be suprised when they kill you.

A football player is playing a sport .... with other human beings .... there are defined rules in that sport .... and laws of man governs others behavior while doing it .... thus if someone dies it is truly an accident .... this was NOT AN ACCIDENT .... IT WAS NATURE .... NATURE KILLS OTHER SPECIES ALL THE TIME THAT FUCK WITH THEM OR INVADE THEIR TERRITORY. And let me tell you .... the animal kingdom used one of their 17 sting ray deaths on one of the more annoying humans out there.

Now all we need to do is sign Ben Raglessgina up for a reef snorkeling trip.

The Stingray Hunting Coalition

History

Prior to the Cold War, stingrays were widely regarded as an ally of mankind. FDR even referred to their leader as Uncle Joe, showing how he thought of them as family. However, once the F-bomb "Fat Chick" was dropped on Hiroshima, the stingrays revealed their true colors and began building arsenals of poisonous barb-tipped nuclear warheads aimed directly at the United States and her allies. While the Truman administration cast the threat aside, choosing to focus on the Soviets, the stingrays proliferated and spread throughout southern Asia and Australia. They began secret raids around the world, killing off celebrities and important political figures such as Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, and George Reeves. These deaths were kept classified by the C.I.A. for many years for reasons undetermined.

In 1962, a Bavarian carnie named Cletus Irwin and his wife Bertha brought forth a son, whom they christened Steve. Little did they know what historical significance this would have.

Throughout the sixties, seventies, and eighties, the stingray population went unchecked. They continued their attacks against America, coming to a head in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. The government refused to acknowledge them, resulting in the deaths of five hundred million men and women.

In 1994, 32 year old Steve Irwin founded the Stingray Hunting Coalition, a secret society devoted to the annihilation of stingrays. He continued to serve as its leader until the C.I.A. assassinated him under suspicion of credit fraud, ironically blaming the death on the very creatures he had fought so valiantly to eliminate. The SHC continues their struggle to this day.

Selection and Training

It is widely believed that the only entrance into the SHC is by casual invitation. This is not the case. The SHC searches the world for the most elite soldiers from all nationalities and presents them with an ultimatum--they will join the SHC or every man, woman, and child on the planet will die. There are currently 42 soldiers, only five of whom are new recruits.

Training itself is rigorous. Trainees are placed in a room with ravenous bugblatters, self-decapitating werewolves, and Tom Cruise, then forced to fight them in brutal hand to hand combat. This exercise continues for three years before they may continue to the next stage of training. They travel to the nation in which they will be serving and must successfully track down and kill a stingray. They are not given reinforcements, and to date over 65,000 trainees have died in this step. Finally, they are assigned to a platoon and begin hunting.

Advancement and Organization

At the top of the chain is the Stinger, currently Jeff Corwin. Then follows the two members of his personal hunting squad, the Barbs. Next are the officers of the various platoons, the Pointy Tails. Finally, there are the soldiers, or Flat Leathery Fish Things. It is only possible to rise through the ranks of SHC by appointment from the Stinger himself.

Stingray Forces

The enemies of the SHC come in many various forms which are almost but not completely unlike common stingrays. There are vampiric and lycanthropic stingrays which are invulnerable to most conventional weapons. Accompanying these are the barrel clown stingrays, the Deadly Viper Assassination Stingrays, Ninja stingrays, Pirate stingrays, bionic stingrays (recently used in an assault against the dwarf planet Mickey), and the dreaded Lesser Reticulated Dragon Stingrays of Southern Guam. The latter are normally invisible but have been discovered to be only seen by those who smoke three or four cigarettes a day, codenamed the '5 o'clock shadow people'.
I know what his annoying ass claimed to be ....

and I don't care what title he gave himself ....

This has nothing to do with politics .... it is a simple formula for me really .... if you make your living harassing deadly animals in nature ... don't be suprised when one kills your ass. And with that voice and personality ... and I am suprised the animal kingdom didn't do it sooner. ;)

I have to agree. It's sad that he died but hardly surprising given what he did for a living.

My best to "The Croc Hunter" and his family. They seemed like the nicest of people. I always liked his show, and his zest for life. RIP Steve. :(
