It all comes down to coaching
expecting them back or not, there wasnt much you can do to remedy the situation. go grab some mediocre overpriced free agents. i can understand 1-2 injuries plus thurman and pollack, but jesus christ... 7 dudes hurt... marshall played some. but jesus christ.... it has to be a record...
When Miller went out I thought Lewis might bring in Chinny to play backer then realized he was out too..At that point it was like "jesus christ Hunley is going to have to suit up!".....
Any excuse that makes you feel better is fine with me. Looks to me, from what you wrote above, that the coaching staff of the Seahawks made adjustments at halftime and gave their players the plays the needed to win. The players went out and did that. Our team didn't do shit at halftime, as usual.

I think you should have your thread making abilities disabled for awhile.

The Bengals out scored the Seahawks in the 2nd half.

And were a fumble away from a game winning or tying drive.

It kills me. Most of the motherfuckers that will bitch the loudest
this week, are the same motherfuckers that didn`t give this
team a chance to win this game anyway.

Since this was a direct reply to my post I'm going to assume that you tossed me in with the "motherfuckers that didn't give this team a chance to win this game anyway."

I'll respond to that one comment with this:

And you picked the Bengals to win in a very backhanded kind of way.

I think there were some bad calls out there from the coaching staff (kicking the ball towards the sideline that went out of bounds, 2 pt play we ran, a couple of runs of second and long to the outside with Rudi), and i know we got screw over on the incomplete pass at the end of the game (brings back of the tampa bay game last year).

But the biggest thing i was pissed about the calls was the last one we gave up a touchdown. Marvin nor anyone else better say that it was a broken coverage or a player messed up. On third down, or late in the game, why do we always run a prevent defense. The cornerback just releases the wideout to the safety who always is open and yet again a team scores on a play we always seem to run on defense. Seriously can someone tell me why that happens. I'm not going to say Lewis is a horrible coach, but seriously Mully does have a point that its the coaches fault and while Carson threw 2 picks or didn't have a great % completion in the second half there has to be more things going on. We had the momentium after the score. The horrible call to tell Graham to kick it to the sideline, the soft zone which pretty much everyone can throw on us, to the horrible call before the 2 minute warning and then the bad play selection of prevent zone. We ran almost the excat same one against Cleveland (we dropped back and left the middle wide open on 3 and 8 to give them the first down). I am sorry but i am getting tired of reading on this site its the players faults or breakdowns in the plays instead of the coaches making the plays.

Yeah, a very backhanded kind of way it was. You're 100% right, old, after watching them give up 51pts to the Cleveland Browns, a team just above high school level with a QB in his 3rd game, I should have been all fired up and pounding my chest on how we were going to roll into Seattle and just manhandle Matt Hasselback and Shaun Alexander. I should probably get out my firecrackers and bottle rockets and have them ready for our game next week against the Patriots.

I think the consensus is that there are a bunch of factors causing the "issue." The players DO have something to do with it, so do injuries, but to say that its all Coaching, just means your not paying attention. You really can't lay the entire blame on one source.

I sure would like a job where I can make mistakes and blame someone else for my problems.....

Anyway, I really feel bad for those of you who think we need to fire the coaches and blah blah blah, what did you do with yourselves when the Bengals were the Bungals? What complaints did you have then? GIVE IT SOME TIME, and relax yourselves.....You are all going to have heart attacks before you ever get to see the Bengals in the SuperBowl at this rate.

Is your reading comprehension not sparking tonight, Old? I said "My blind homerism" Do I need to get a dictionary and show you the meaning of "my"? I'm not calling you a homer, ya crotchedy old fuck. And yes, I did pick them in a backhanded way. I was hoping my little rant about the Browns would show reason why I picked them in a backhanded way. As for being able to find a bunch of negative shit I said before the Browns game.........looks like I wasn't wrong. I don't see what your problem is, man. I called the Browns game, although I never expected it to be that horrible, I picked the Bengals over the Seahawks, even after they let Cleveland walk all over them like a welcome mat. I don't see where I've been wrong yet, except for letting my homerism think we were going to beat the Seahawks. Again, MY homerism.

I'm sitting here at the beginning of a season where we were supposed to finally have a shot at it. I know it's too early to tell right now but initial reports aren't good, bro. I was content laying all the losses onto the players and injuries all last season but this season I'm not willing to make those sad excuses. We've got some of the best players in the league and they are not getting the job done. Injuries? Boo fucking hoo! Show me a team that doesn't have injuries or any other kinds of obstacles to overcome. Yet we just can't seem to overcome those obstacles. Why not? Coaching, that's why. With all the talent we have there's only one other thing that can be wrong. I'm not saying it's all Marvin. But he employs these people. He believes in Chuck. Either that or Chuck walked in on him wearing women's underwear on his head. Chuck needs to go. Marvin also employs the genius that told him to challenge for a fumble on a call that was ruled as an incomplete. Yes, that's just one play and it probably wouldn't have changed things too much. But it shows how inept this coaching/coordinating staff is.
MULLY
But even after all of this I'll be here at 2:00am next weekend sitting up all night and having to go straight to work the next day with no sleep because I love my Bengals that much. I just wish they would improve.

As for me being a coach, I never once said I have all the answers. Is it not painfully obvious to everyone here that with the people we have on this team we should be the ones other teams don't want to go up against? I just can't understand how other teams get injuries and somehow adapt to that and move forward yet we can't.

:D

i chuckled here...

but yea... there are some stupid people in this thread...

refusing to address the obvious team meltdowns to try to blame a coach for poorly executed plays. i promise the coach didnt tell shayne to kick the ball out of bounds, after al lthe last squibb kick i think was nearly a fumble recovery for us, "thats the way the ball bounces" fits pretty wekk, the ball hit the hash mark and bounces 20 yards off the sideline...

and the 2 pt play was fine, just didnt work, 1 point doesnt do much here or there... we didnt even get a chance to tie or win. thanks to our top, what, 4 kick returners being out?

the team is missing like 15 starters right now...

no team overcomes that, not the colts, not the patriots, no one. has nothing to do with good or bad coaching. its personel. we have none.

Show me a coach that could go into Seattle without their top pick from 2004,
all 3 of their top draft picks from 2005, a banged up 2006 top pick, their 2nd
round pick from 2007 and had 3 fucking LB`s that wasn`t even on the team in
August, and do better than what the Bengals did today.

Again, they didn`t get pounded like a 5 dollar whore. They outscored the
Seahawks in 2nd half, And lost by 3 points.
They were a fucked up fumble away from a game winning or tying drive.
They would have had the ball in decent field position with all 3 of their timeouts.

All things considered, I`d say the coaching was above average. Top 5 even. :)

My bad, Old. I'm just really really hot right now about this team not producing more. Chad said it best last week. "If they score 51 we need to score 52." It really is that simple of a concept and the Bengals have the players to do that. It just kills me to watch these guys, here comes my homerism again, who I think are the best out there, and they just can't get it together. There's always something, whether it's a botched kick or a fumble........always something. Can't these fucking guys keep it together for 60 minutes without imploding on themselves? Fuck me, I'm tired of watching them lose when they shouldn't.

This team needs to win...not so much for the season, but to SAVE THE SITE!

We're turning on each other, pessimistic prognosticators taking credit for predicting failure, rosy-colored glasses distributed en masse by the homers, tempers short, jokes misread...nothing cures all that like winning.

Now, group hug
