What part of required healthcare coverage is going to protect another person? Two entirely different concepts... your closest way to equate it would be the government requiring you to purchase collision coverage on your vehicle. Which they don't.

Well... my bank account surely is going to need some protection.

I'll agree with that 100%.

Who, again, voted for Obama??? Yes - I'm pointing the finger... nobody can shirk responsibility for this on the previous administration or say it was something they "inherited"... this is his deal - lock, stock, and barrel.

Yep and there are some things in it that I like a whole lot.

No longer can a insurance company deny the pre-existing condition. (I have a friend of a freind that got denied because she had a pre-existing condition of medically treated acne. I wish I was joking.)

I like that college kids are covered on their parents insurance until the age of 26

Not going to complaing about that stuff at all.

Will complain that I wish it was single payer instead.

Not me, I don't vote for muslims.

Seriously though, I don't really care for this bill. I'm not for it or against it becuase as I mentioned much earlier, this is another attempt to solve a problem by attacking the effects rather than the root of the problem. I've heard decent arguments for and against, but I've never been totally sold on either side.

I do however still feel that people are generally stupid and will lean towards selfish desires.

I'll agree with the pre-existing condition scenario... they shouldn't be allowed to cherry-pick the "insured" that they want to because they're more profitable... if you offer insurance to one person in that state you have to offer it to every person in that state, etc.

But, there are several components that I disagree with.

Free market all the way, baby! Fuck regulation!

[/quote]

Now, let's be fair. Workman's Comp is 'well regulated', yet when EVERYONE, other than the Ohio Board of Workers' Compensation (I believe that is the correct title; it was over a decade ago...), agreed that I was due said compensation due to a workplace injury that occurred to no fault of my own, they refused the claim. After having the warehouse manager, US Foodservice HR director, and my attorney, go to bat for me, I was finally able to get a sit down with their people 14 months after I had returned to work, work that I was not able to attend for 7 months after my injury. They grudgingly cut me a check for the back time I had missed that I received, swiftly, in a mere 6-7 weeks after the meeting. Regulations; they worked for me!

I was wondering that as well. Who is going to cash in here? What insurance co. will get to reap these rewards?

Now, I admittedly, I did not crunch the numbers, but I did read on Mike McConnell's blog, I believe, that if you took all the profits from all the heath insurance companies and put them to work on covering everyone in America, those monies would be gone in just over 2 days. Now, I hate insurance companies with a fiery passion, but, if those numbers are true, I would have to think there is a much better target for our collective hatred and ire.

They're going to get huge revenue from 30 million people either required by law to buy insurance or subsidized to do so. I don't get you're talking about. They aren't paying out of pocket for this.

According to the numbers provided, insurance companies average a yearly 4% profit margin. The claim was if the monies of that profit margin was taken and used only for medical costs, thereby making the insurance companies were non-profit, that the profit money would run out in just over 2 days, leaving another 363 days to worry about.

That's one thing I've been trying to say for a while to people around me and one reason I don't care for Glenn Beck. Calling the Democrats socialists is so stupid. They're fully in the pockets of big business and big banks. That's not socialism.

Different dogs, same owner.

Regardless of the party with which you affiliate (if any) they are all owned lock, stock, and barrel by the exact same special interests...

full text of the executive order prohibiting abortion funding except in the case of rape, insest and life of the mother. Basically keeps the Hyde Amendment, the status cuo.

I do completely...

but you're going to justify one bad decision with another??? sounds like the way my kids reason something out when they've screwed up.

oh yeah - well... he did if first...

I mean, really?

Because from my less than completely informed opinion you're defending this healthcare bill - based on what I've seen of your posts the last two days.
