With the contracts given to Kyle Cook and Leon Hall, the Bengals payroll is now $114 million, above what would have been the minimum spend

Isn't the cap $120 million with a $3 million overage allowance?

That means the Bengals only have $9 million in space.

Carson's salary is $11.5 million.

That can't be right, can it?

it might be a cap vs actual cash thing. They may be at 114 towards the cap, but may be less than that as far as cash.

I dunno.

Clayton is borderline retarded, so I don't really trust anything he says.

If $9 million is right, maybe they'd cut Grad for the extra $2.5?

The team is at 114 million scheduled to be spent this season. That's what would count toward the cash minimum if the floor were in effect for 2011. They are well below the cap ceiling and have room in case Carson does report. The minimum and maximum amounts are calculated differently so there's really no point in reporting actual cash outlays in years when the floor isn't in effect.
