Football Hall of Fame - Class of 2012

Recommended Posts

There were 105 players/coaches/etc eligible for enshrinement in the HoF for the Class of 2012.

The list was trimmed to 26 semi-finalists, then to 15 finalists. The Senior Committee then adds two names to get to a final ballot with 17 names. To be elected, a finalist must recieve a minimum of an 80% positive vote. In addition, a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 finalists will be enshrined, although no more than 5 can come from the modern-era nominees. To get more than 5, one or both of the senior nominees have to be tapped.

List of the original 105 eligible persons: http://www.profootballhof.com/enshrinement/2011/9/28/2012-nominees-alphabetical-with-teams-and-years/

The underlined personnel were finalists last year but were not selected.

I believe it's a lock that anyone playing in/for Pittsburgh gets in the Hall, whether they deserve it or not. So Bettis, *Butler, Dawson and Greene are guaranteed. I also think DeBartolo gets in, because he financed the expansion Browns and has ties to the Youngstown mafia who will probablly call in a hit on Goodell otherwise. Parcells gets in because he coached in New York and is a media darling. And I think Reed deserves to get in (ahead of Brown and Carter) but with 5 modern-era enshrinees already tapped, he gets shut out.

So my guess is:

Bettis

Butler

Dawson

DeBartolo

Greene

Parcells
The announcement will be made Super Bowl weekend.

I didn't see Ken Riley, Ken Anderson, Lemar Parrish, or Isaac Curtis anywhere in those lists, not even in the list of 105. Maybe they should've played their careers wearing a black helmet with the logo missing on one side.

Fucking horseshit that Anderson isn't even considered.

He barely missed the cutoff for the Senior Committee this year. I actually like his chances for next year...

He'll get in because of this...

I'll guess Parcells, Dawson, Roaf, Carter, and Haley. DeBartolo was forced out of the NFL due to his criminal conviction and that will keep him out of the HoF. Bettis was a classic compiler who was only one of the best RBs for a couple of seasons. There are already too many RB, WR and QBs in there anyway.

Anderson, Parrish, Riley and Cutris are all in the hands of the Senior Committee, who handles everyone out of football for 25 years or longer.

Note: There were no Bengals in the original list of 105, but Corey Dillon becomes eligible this year for consideration for the 2013 class.
