Guest The Carson Show Posted June 30, 2005 Report Share Posted June 30, 2005
WPVI.com reports there is some speculation the Philadelphia Eagles could trade WR Terrell Owens to the Oakland Raiders for WR Jerry Porter. If the trade were to occur, the Raiders would have two of the best wide receivers in the NFL: Randy Moss and Terrell Owens. Moss told reporters Wednesday, June 29, he could co-exist with Owens as long as he got the number of passes he deserves."
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-Dan_Bengals_FL- Posted June 30, 2005 Report Share Posted June 30, 2005 Even Kerry Collins would look like a HOFer with that offense. Moss says he could co-exist with Owens IF HE gets the number of passes HE THINKS he deserves. Which translates to they wouldn't co-exist. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
natifanatic Posted June 30, 2005 Report Share Posted June 30, 2005 HA HA!! Owens won't get his catches, Moss won't get his, then there's going to be a huge fight and then they kill each other. That makes CJ the best WR in the league!! A little over dramatic but hey...... I'm pretty sure this deal won't go through, but if it does, I'm glad we don't have Oakland on our schedule this year. |Bunghole| Posted July 1, 2005 Report Share Posted July 1, 2005 Fuck both of those talented assholes...they deserve each other if it's true, but sadly, it probably isn't...in which case I don't care either because we play neither Philly nor Oakland this season.... I would absolutely DIE if they played together...arguing through the media about what a bitch the other is, etc...that would be quality programming.... akiliMVP Posted July 1, 2005 Report Share Posted July 1, 2005 1. TO and Randy Moss will not see near enough balls to make them both happy (I said balls ) 2. They just inked Lamont Jordan to a huge contract, he will not see enough touches with both Moss and TO wanting the ball 3. No way in hell they could afford it, they are currently 100,000 dollars below the cap (TO won't play for $100,000 this year or ever) 4. TO would donkey punch Kerry Collins by game three (he thought Garcia was a bad QB.......) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest CTBengalsFan Posted July 1, 2005 Report Share Posted July 1, 2005 IF (big if) this ever happened, they don't have an excuse for losing a game because there's no way that TO and Moss could both be covered in a signle play Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-GoBengals- Posted July 1, 2005 Report Share Posted July 1, 2005 the folks on NFL radio seem to think its purely rumor and never happen unless philly got 2-3 high draft picks along with porter. also said they would let TO sit before trading for just porter. Guest CTBengalsFan Posted July 1, 2005 Report Share Posted July 1, 2005 yea this'll NEVER happen. there's no way Oakland has the cap space and as profootballtalk.com points out it'd be a huge cap hit to get rid of Porter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[post="109205"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
i must have been listening to a different crew.. i heard what your saying this morning, but yesturday, they were talking about how TO is getting old and is a problem player... they said that porter was a lot younger and has the potential to be great... but i did hear that the raiders are only about 500,000 below the salary cap and the likeliness of this happening isn't very high... its the offseason and it gets people talking... no more than that... if they did get TO though, i will change my mind about how good i think they will be next year.. as of now, i think they won't be close to as good as most think they will... lamont jordan isn't proven over a full season and kerry collins couldn't hold calpeppers jock strap... moss will be bitching by week 6.. you heard it here first... Guest #22 Posted July 4, 2005 Report Share Posted July 4, 2005 So you are basing someone's career on one game? That sounds like something Butch Davis would do. -Owens has never led the league in receptions. In fact, he has only finished in the top 10 in the league three times (5th, 9th, and 4th) in his 9 seasons, and hasnt finished in the top ten since 2002. From Warner2Bruce, on the Maddenmania football forums:
-Owens has never led the league in receiving yards. Again, he has only finished in the top 10 three times (4th, 3rd, and 8th) in his 9 seasons, and hasnt had a top ten finish since 2002. -Owens isnt durable. He has only played a full 16 game season once in the past six seasons. -Owens, for all of the talk of his great TD scoring ability, has only led the league in TD's twice ('01 & '02)...indicating he has only been the best at his position two out of nine seasons. -Owens peaked 3 years ago, and is declining. He hasnt had a top 10 finish in yards or catches, or led the league in TD's, since 2002. He caught 100 passes in '02, and has had seasons of 80 and 77 since. When compared to the other top WR's.... Owens has eclipsed 1300 yards twice in nine seasons, and hasnt done it since 2001. Torry Holt has eclipsed 1300 in each of the past 5 seasons, including two years of 1600+ yards. Owens has caught 100 or more passes once in his career, in 2002, when he caught exactly 100 balls. Marvin Harrison has eclipsed 100 4 times, including a career high of 143. Owens has 95 TD's in 9 seasons. Randy Moss has 90 in 7 seasons, including 30 the last two seasons compared to Owens' 23. Clearly, Owens isnt the best at any one facet of his position. Holt, along with Harrison & Moss for that matter, put up more yards. Harrsion, along with Holt & Moss for that matter, put up more receptions. And Moss produces more TD's.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest CTBengalsFan Posted July 4, 2005 Report Share Posted July 4, 2005 ohhhh yea... you're right... stats are THE indicator of how good someone is. Just watch an Eagles game dude, and he would have led the league in TD receptions had he not been horse collar tackled. TO + McNabb is a FAR better combination than TO + Garcia ever was. Don't forget that he also played with Jerry Rice for a few years so he wasn't even the #1 guy. And since you're using all those stats to justify who's the best, does that mean Derrick Mason and Muhsin Muhammad are the best WRs in the league? I'll reiterate... if you don't think he's a top 5 WR, you're stupid, plain and simple.
