cwing
NFL coaches try to keep everything in house. When coaches call guys out in the media it is typically done for a reason. Although I didn't hear the presser, Marvin apparently called out Andy Dalton for inconsistency during his presser. In your opinion, what does it mean? What is Marvin trying to accomplish by calling out his QB in the media?
Rumble In the Jungle
He's telling Andy that he's garbage and he can't wait to pick up a FA QB in the off season or the draft. That's my interpretation of it.
BengalsOwn
Reading the transcript, I don't see where he "called him out". It was more like answering a simple question, with the most obvious observation he could make. How do you think Andy played?ML: “We thought he played inconsistent. We thought he had some marvelous plays, some great audibles and some great checks. He had a couple things that we wish he could have done better, and guys have to do a little better for him too. He’s got their eyes and they’ve got to finish the play. He’ll continue to play better. We put the pressure on him always to play better. He is the offense, he runs the offense. When we’re going good, he gets all the credit. When we’re not as good as we should be, it’s us that needs to be fixed. He had some plays he could have done better like everybody did, including the head coach. The head coach should have called timeout (before the early fourth-and-one try) and taken the pressure off the offense.”
Orange 'n Black
No way that's "calling him out," Marvin pretty much stated the obvious.
bengals8580
He should call out himself, Gruden, and the offensive line as well. Dalton is no more at fault than any of them. No consistency from the line, no consistency from Gruden. One week we'll have guys running easy crossing routes, routes to get guys open. Then the next week we run deep outs and hitches like they can't be used ever again. Dalton's inconsistency IMO falls almost completely on Gruden. Bgal
I read that as a sign of support and confidence more than a "call out."
The Traveler
I think the QB coach needs to work with Dalton on mechanics more. His spiral on the ball was atrocious Sunday. Besides the wind catching the wobbling ball, the wobbling causes receivers to drop the pass more often. Tightening the spiral should be a priority for the coaches. BronxBengal
When will Marvin call at Paul Alexander and his horrible coaching of a under achieving line? This is the problem with the offense. The RB's aren't getting the holes...the line sucks and so does Alexander.

bengals8580
Marvin did call himself out. Good. Cause as bad as Dalton and the O line played, we still win that game if Marvin coaches to our strengths. Like a good coach would do. Going for it on 4th, not kicking and taking the wind in OT, and not punting in OT. The ravens offense hadn't done shit in a long time.
