Thanks The contract doesn't exist anymore--they terminated it when he was waived. He will still keep whatever bonus he got in March, but they do not owe him anything else. Thanks Salary was not guaranteed, just signing bonus. I was kidding anyways but you never know with this club. He would have cost the Bengals $5.88 mil next year. Absolutely no reason to pay this. The Bengals can resign him for way less if he clears waivers but I suspect he was cut for a reason we don't know. Probably had to do with being called out by the head coach (the unit) for sucking horribly and responding to it but that is pure speculation. |OneHeartBeat|
Doesn't seem like a very MB-type move to cut a guy that was just extended. These coaches have more say than people think.

Years from now when the team is hoisting their 3rd Lombardi, we will look back and say cutting Preston Brown is where it all started.

My point being; the coaches deserve a lot of the blame for this shitshow,

No, surely Preston Brown was the problem. Now that he is gone the team will return to the playoffs.

Then the shit runs downhill.

I_C_Deadpeople
Interesting note on Brown from the Athletic today (and if I recall Hobs had an article on Brown in TC telling us how light and fast he was..lol) Brown’s case against himself started early. He spoke this offseason about understanding the changing of the league and the desire to play at 240 pounds to adjust to the faster style demanded of linebackers. The only problem was he came in overweight and never sniffed anything in the ballpark of 240. He continued to be listed at 255 on the roster, but it was much more than when he showed up for camp. |High School Harry|
Malik Jefferson available, again. Sports Browns sign DE Cox, waive LB Jefferson The Cleveland Browns signed defensive end Bryan Cox, the team announced Wednesday. Cox is the son of the former three-time Pro Bowl selection by the same name, who also served as an assistant coach with the Browns from 2009-10. Linebacker Malik Jefferson was waived to make room for the younger Cox, who was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Cox, 25, recorded 18 tackles in 19 career games with the team before being released on Nov. 8. The move to add Cox could provide depth for Cleveland with defensive end Olivier Vernon sitting out the past two games with a knee injury. Jefferson, 22, made one tackle in nine games with the Browns (3-6), who host the Pittsburgh Stealers (5-4) on Thursday (8:20 p.m. ET).

Well considering the over/under on Jefferson was 3 practices, he lasted way longer than anyone thought.

Not a linebacker but we have an opening and Webb and McRae are horrible. Is he a candidate for redeeming?
