By all accounts the Bengals and Tee's agent did not come close to an extension agreement before the start of this season. The Bengals are not known for raising their best offer after the player value has already been determined. Certainly can't see them bumping up the top offer after Tee's injury-plagued season is over.

Agree and Joe went even further, as if it was needed, to show what a quality guy

and orange and black bleeding Bengal he is, when he was thinking about Tee when

he did his own contract negotiations.  Totally unselfish.

Tee will be here next year but I have doubts about the year after.

And I will absolutely hate that.

BTW... #5 Higgins jerseys on sale in the pro shop... not a good sign.

The ball is in Tee's court but his balls are in his agent's hands.

Would love to see Tee set that pimp straight on who works for whom

and get something done to keep him where he is loved and respected rather

than starting from scratch with some scrubs.

They won't..

No matter what JB says about it.

Chase will demand 30mil per and likely get it.

No room for another 20 mil or so WR.

Brian Thomas is looking intriguing

but doubt they draft him with OT and DT in need.

This class is loaded with WRs..

I wonder what the contract details Joe put in that lets them keep both Tee and Jamar, seems like that is going to be hard to do with Joe getting paid the highest QB contract in history and you know Jamar is going to get paid too, seems like Tee is going to be the odd man out. I hope is back, but I don't know how.

Seems like every class has WRs, it's the one position I worry about finding a replacement for the least. We've always been good at finding WRs, John Ross is really the only bust at the position we've had in a long time.

JB is the Highest paid player in the league.

This class is loaded with top notch receivers soI doubt their all scrubs

I like Tee but he's not irreplaceable by any means

His injuries seem to be mounting as well .

Last year's WR class was considered weak at the top, especially for big outside receivers like Tee. That was why teams were trying to trade for Higgins last spring. But with a deeper WR class plus Tee's underwhelming season, there are probably fewer teams looking to give up top draft capital in a trade and then look to extend him.

Yeah I have no expectation we get a high first rounder, maybe not a first at all, but I think you could get Carolina who was asking about him to give up their 2nd. Which would be exactly where Tee was drafted (top pick of the 2nd round) which makes it a push as far as draft position.

I doubt Carolina is giving up their 2nd

which is nbr 33 in the draft..

Strange  things happen though.love to see it happen but don't think so.

I'm still trying to figure out how the hell Pittsburgh got the Bears to give up what turned out to be pick #32 in the draft for...drumroll, please...CHASE CLAYPOOL!?!?

Good listing..

I would swap Sidney Jones in place of Jeff Gunter.

Paul Dehner:

Higgins will enter the offseason as one of the most sought-after free agents on the market. The franchise tag is available for one year and just north of $21 million. The deadline for the tag decision is March 5.

The Bengals swung and missed on a long-term extension this past August, but could try again for multiple years. They could tag and trade in hopes of adding assets if a deal can’t be reached. They could pass on guaranteeing that much money for one season and let him walk. There are multiple options, but with Burrow’s contract extension not fully attacking the cap until 2025, the team has $54 million in effective cap space, via Over The Cap, currently sixth-most.

There’s more than enough space to apply a tag and then proceed from there into the offseason priorities.

Bengals can easily afford a 21 mil tag for Tee. They won't bring back Jonah or Boyd and those 2 account for more than 21 mil on this year's cap. Draft a RT in round 1 and elevate Jones, Iosivas or Irwin as the Boyd replacement.

Reader also comes off the books, and unfortunately due to his injury situation, I think he won't get a deal or at least not a good one, until next year. Personally, I'd give him just above the vet minium this year with the follow-on 2 years much more. This gives him a place to stick and rehab and be ready for our playoff run next year but also rewards him for staying. If he wants money now I think because of the injury the team will move on completely.

If he's willing they could give Reader a deal for vet minimum plus per-game roster bonuses. So if he's out the whole year he just gets 1 mil. But if he plays half the season, he might earn 7 or 8 mil.

I'd do exactly that maybe even sweeten it a bit and give him a workout bonus that would include his rehab.
