gatorclaws Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 We probably can't catch the Ravens now, and either Denver or San Diego is getting the first wild card. However we very well can still get the last wild card spot. We are only 1 game back of Jax, KC, and the Jets. I know none of this matters unless we start winning, but I'm not ready to quit on the season yet.
Guest OneHeartBeat Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I'm too fucking pissed to listen to any positive talk
Orange 'n Black Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 JAX is a choke job. KC is too inconsistent. Nobody knows what to think about the Jets. Unfortunately... I think at this point all three of those apply to us. I believe we still have a shot, but we need to get our shit together even more desperately then we did last week.
Guest ONYX Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Guys, I love you all as true Bengal fans but listen to me,........ you can't turn a hoe into a houswife. This defense we are married to, is a cheating whore with the neighbor's cum on her lips. She is no good for you, she will only break your heart. Let her go just let her go. I mean if we score 40-points a week from here on out the best we probably do is .500. Why? Well ... we can't stop nobody.
Storm Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Lets look at the positives How bad would it have been if Castillo and Merriman played
Jamie_B Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Ok the half postive. Odell and David are very likely done one as a Bengal and one for his career. Brook will replace one of them, but we need to replace both, your not going to get a difference making linebacker that is going to make a impact right away with a low pick, so we get a higher pick and retool for next year.
NASTYNATI Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 we need more than a miracle to snatch the last wildcard spot.
TheChosenOne Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Thinking positive after the Ravens game was thinking we could win a wild card spot. Thinking positive after this game is thinking we can go 9-7 or so and finish with a respectable record. We won't make the playoffs.

Orange 'n Black Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Dwight Freeney will be a UFA, but I get the feeling that pretty much everyone will go after him like Sally Struthers after a snacky cake. Mike Brown won't come up off near enough cash for Freeney to come in stripes.

There is still hope for us, but lets be for real. We have the toughest schedule in the NFL. Even though are offence has come to life, are defence sucks.

Youll have to get one in the draft.
TheChosenOne Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006
9-7 might get the wildcard
Highly doubtful. Baltimore, New England, and Indy are going to win their respective divisions. Denver and SD are both 7-2, so whoever doesn't win the AFC West will take the first WC spot. Kansas City, Jacksonville, and the N.Y. Jets are 5-4. They would all have to finish no better than 9-7 and we would have to be able to beat them on tiebreakers. I'm not buying that. Now 10-6 might get us into the playoffs, but that entails us going 6-1 through a stretch that has only two "easy" teams in Cleveland and Oakland, four very good teams at the tops of their respective divisions in Indy, Denver, Baltimore, and New Orleans, and a potential spoiler in pissburgh.
Guest Coy Bacon Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006
Good pass rushing players are too expensive in FA. Youll have to get one in the draft.
A large part of the reason that the Bengals have a perpetually sorry and limp defense is that they don't place a high enough monetary value on the caliber of athelete it takes to generate a pass rush and generally play up front on defense in the NFL. The good ones are rare athletes and it takes money to have them. They're also strong personalities, and you just haven't had that many of them around here. I think the Bengals would be better off paying the money for a free agent, because there is no history of young guys developing into that kind of dynamic presence here, and I'm not sure it will happen until the organization and the town get used to seeing those guys come in already developed. Then people around here will have a better idea of what they're looking for. I say that knowing that Marvin Lewis and his crew have come in from outside and have been successful elsewhere, but I still think they need some external help at the player level to change the culture around here where defense is concerned - and they need it now. Drafting and development is takes too long and is too risky. Signing marginal free agents has been OK as a stop-gap, but if they're going to seriously contend, they've got to stop skimping on what counts, which is what's up front.
Guest steggyD Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Positive thinking? Where do I start? Oh yeah. Now that both Cleveland and pissburgh won today, we're barely hanging on to second place in the AFC North. Now we're just a team that migh upset a team or two out of playoff contention. Congratulations Bengals!

I'd love to see a solid FA DE get signed this offseason with our first two picks going defensive as well. We don't have a 3rd Rd Pick as of right now and we need to go all defensive the first day as well sign quality D help.
Guest schotzee Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Forgive me please.I am the ever longing optimist, but we just blew a 21 point lead and lost at home .I can not think positive right now .We did what the Cardinals did like 3 weeks ago.How do you come back from that????????????I will not give up on the beloved Bengals, but it's hard not to throw in the towel after this one.
Guest ravonaf Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 The entire defensive coaching staff should be fired first thing monday morning. The season is shot anyway. Then over the course of the next several months soP and Marvin should scoure the fucking earth for the best defensive football minds that money can buy. Cost should be no object. Let the densive geniuses build the defense the way they see fit. The injury excuse is complete fucking bullshit. Anyone using it should be beat in the head with a club. After 4 years this shit needs to be fixed. Anything short of doing everything than can be done to fix it is bullshit.
Guest oldschooler Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Yeah one game back in the Wild Card chase with 7 to go. There`s still a chance. But the same could be said for a number of teams. The Bengals have found ways to lose games. They need to find ways to win them. Hopefully that starts next week...
|Tigers Johnson| Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Our defense positively SUCKS!
