Met The Straycat Today

Bunghole

Recommended Posts

So I'm washing cars today (the new mangerial job I'm learning part time as I continue to work full time at my other job), and a big white truck with yellow racing stripes pulls in. I don't give it much of a second thought at first, and I begin to prep the vehicle with a high-pressure alkaline soak sprayer, and as I near the back of the truck, in the rear window I see a Cincy Bengals sticker, and across from it, a power boating sticker of some kind.
I'm thinking, "Where do I recognize this truck from?"--it's a Dodge Ram.
And I remember glancing at the drivers face---and it hit me. It was Straycat. I tapped on the window and he rolled it down. I took another look at his face to be sure and I was like "Straycat? Bunghole." and extended my hand.
He sorta smiled and was like "You're kidding me."
We laughed and talked a little about the site and why I was in Cincy when he thought I lived and worked in Indiana (which I still do).
He was on his lunch hour and we kept it kind of brief, but it was really cool to run into a fellow GoBengals junkie by sheer chance like that.
And the only reason I even knew it was him was because he had posted pics of himself in the "meet our junkies" thread and a picture of his truck and boat in another thread.
So this just goes to show you, I am stalking each and every one of you, er, you never know when you'll run into a fellow junkie!
We are out there! Beware!
:D
OK, I gotta go to work (again) now. See you all on the flip...

If it's not too far away, I'll show up. I need my new car cleaned.

Nothing would give me more joy than forcing that bitch to wash my car. JUST KIDDING.

Is this one of those full service car washes, where you come out at the end and people clean the inside and dry the outside and apply tire shine?

I worked at one of those when I was in high school everyday after school. It was one of the coolest jobs I've ever had, and you could make a lot of money from tips.

OK I'm finally home from work--nothing like a 16 hour day on your feet to really make you feel alive (and I get to do it all over again tomorrow--YAY! <_< ).

The carwash is designed as an exterior express model...completely automated except for the vehicle prep area where a loser in a bowtie will apply a high pressure solution to your car to remove surface grit prior to your tunnel entry where there is a soft cloth process (so as not to allow said grit to be dragged across your behicle's finish by the mitter curtains).

And no, we don't do interiors...we have a self-serve vac island, all coin-op.
the tunnel experience is pretty cool, and quick, and it does a pretty damn good job for an automated wash.

I don't remember the exact address, it's called Washpro and it's on Glenway Ave, wedged between the old Big hat Arby's and the Goodyear. It's about a 2-3 blocks past Western Bowl, if you know where that is.

If that isn't close enough, we'll have another location at Union Center in westchester on 747 near Tri-County Mall opening in July, and another location in the Loveland/Madeira are coming soon...then Norhtern KY, then THE WORLD, HAHAHAHAHAH!

I am training to manage the location, but since we're so new we're not fully staffed yet and myself, the other two managers and the millionare owners are all out there at one time or another, doing vehicle prep and selling washes.

People must really wonder what 5 clean-cut, bowtie-wearing, clearly educated mid-30's aged men are doing working at a carwash for what they assume is 8 bucks an hour...oh well, it's all good...we'll have about 20 locations in 10 years and I'll be part of the corporate infrastructure...great opportunity and a REAL eye-opening experience when viewed from the inside out.

So there's the sordid tale...

I'll be on the lookout for a hot blonde driving a filthy Cherokee....

I was already in line so I paid the little nerdy kid and told
him to tell you the BEOTCH was here....

um, he gave me a very strange look so I said
"nice bowtie", laughed and went on thru....

Did it really break off your taillight? That carwash will sometimes grab like, a power antenna that won't go down, or a loose front license plate holder...

Yah, I worked 14 hours there on Thu and Fri, and worked 18 hrs Thu and Fri night at my other job=32 hours out of 48 worked....

..was pretty tired...

I normally work Saturdays, but they've had me on Fridays the last two weeks to cover the local highschool proms the last two Fridays.

Sorry I missed you and I hope you were joking about your light...

If not they'll take care of it....

I'm glad you were kidding.
You'd be amazed at the phony damage claims we get.
Had a guy driving an 88 Aries with a rusty roof...
...pulled around after the wash and acted like the wash caused the rust...

Anyway, sorry I missed you. I'll be there usually on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays...

And I am sorta relieved you were joking....
I could just see my boss being like "WTF, you tell people to come here on some website and they have a damage claim?"

I went to a LAN party in Cleveland once to finally meet all these people I'd been playing games online with for a year. We tried to use each other's real names for about 20 minutes, then it was given up. We musta sounded like HUGE dorks at the pizza joint calling each other mongo, dogplazma, bait, etc... :)
