Just as long as we don't take him in the second... :suicide:

Some good info on him here. www.nfldraftbible.com/Players/List/2010-Big-Board/Pat-Simonds.html
he definitely has some issues that will keep him a low round pick but there is some potential there. Also interesting is the fact that the Bengals had a scout at the East-West game to watch him along with a few other teams.

There are some guys in the middle of the WR pack that are rather interesting guys.

Riley Cooper is intriguing. Nice size, good speed.

Blair White is another guy who's worth a look. Had real nice shrine practices, a little bit of an older prospect though.

Freddie Barnes is being talked about a little. Really broke out his senior year with 155 catches and 19 TD. Also had a good showing at the E/W Shrine practices. A little slower though.

Carlton Mitchell is guy in an enigman right now, can't find much about him. Did find his stats. Not many TDs or receptions, but a nice YPC average. Great size at 6-4, 212. Great projected speed as well. 4.45.

It looks like they switched things around in the last day or so. Try this one, same page but now with a different address, go figure. Holy Crap. I checked thinking that had to be a typo and its not. Basically 12 catches a game.

The he is a project and could be worth a chance has to stop, we need immediate impact players, we are a legitimate deep run playoff contender with just a few more key players

bull. Whether its this guy or some other player, you always have to be looking down the line and developing players for the future. There'd be no harm in grabbing a guy like this in the 6th round if thats what they choose.

You don't find many of those in the 7th round.

I would not mind Barnes at all late in the draft. The guy might have the best hands in the draft and can obviously get separation if he is able to get open for that many receptions considering he was probably facing the opposing team's best corner every game. He is a bit slower than ideal but he has a little shake and bake and his route running looks good. A TJ clone.

um its gotten us Ndukwe, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Fanene and Bernard Scott to name a few.

This is also a team that took long term projects like Nate Livings, Dennis Roland and Kyle Cook and turned them into starters on a playoff team. Jason Shirley may be the next in that group.

You always have to have projects to develop long term. Some guys hit their primes later than others.

Ndukwe,Scott and fanene were solid players in college not projects, Nate Livings, and Roland are not all that great and shirley has been changed to a completly different side of the ball is he even still here?

You could argue Scott is in the same situation this Simonds kid is in without the baggage. They are both small school players that dominated at the small school level but there remains a question if they can do it in the NFL. Even without the baggage Scott wasn't going much higher than he did whereas if he had put up those numbers at D-1 he would have been first round for sure - same with Simonds.
Any player that gets drafted was a solid player in college and obviously there were enough flaws in Ndukwe and Fanene's game to drop them into the last round.

Fanene had played 1 year of significant football when we drafted him. He was a project. Ndukwe had major flaws and had to be developed. Livings and Roland developed from practice squad players to being serviceable enough to get the team to 10-6 and be one of the top running teams in the league. Yes, Shirley is still on the team.

You always have to be developing guys like this. Look at Josh Cribbs. Look what the Patriots have done with Julian Edelmann this year. Last year he was a college QB. This year he catches 37 balls as a pro WR.

Freddie Barnes just catches the ball. We really need that on this team. Even if all he can do is run short out routes, curls, and screens, it would be great to have a guy who is basically a lock to catch anything coming at him.
