2nd round dream scenario
1.Trade up into the top 10 of the 2nd (using a 3rd and 5th) to take Alshon Jeffrey
2.Lamar Miller (the Broncos likely take him at 36)
3.Markelle Martin

I hope they do. Gives us a better chance of a good WR or better RB dropping into our laps.

The Bengals own an extra third-round pick and three fifth-round selections this weekend. It allows a possibility to move up in the second round Friday. Coach Marvin Lewis sounded open to the concept Friday afternoon. "We do have some flexibility to possibly move one way or the other," he said. "We spent this afternoon trying to reorder things and prioritize where we are."

Not a chance. I posted this in another thread but but I will repost it here if this is our gameday thread. We don't get nearly as much as we think for trading up a given pick. If you use the draft value chart, which we should because our trade with NE last night was almost dead on, then here is what we would get if we made the following packages to trade up:

1) If we package our original 2nd round with our original third we could have:

2nd: 35
3rd: 93
4th: 116
5th:156, 166, 167
6th: 15

2) We could add our 2nd round pick to our new third and have:

2nd: 40
3rd: 83
4th: 116
5th:156, 166, 167
6th: 15

3) We could combine our third round picks and have:

2nd: 53, 60
4th: 116
5th:156, 166, 167
6th: 15

4) Or we could combine our original 3rd (#83) with our 4th through 6th round picks to get us 330 = 57th pick

2nd: 53, 57
3rd: 93
No other picks

5) Or we could combine our NE 3rd rounder, the 93rd pick, with EVERY pick we have after that (4th, 3 5ths, and the 6th) to get us 283 = 62nd pick.

2nd: 53, 62
3rd: 83

Given the depth in the draft, after looking at this (Phew!), I'd have to say I like where we are at better than trading up, but I'd take scenario #3 if I had to trade up. Of course, this list doesn't account for using a fifth, for example, if we want to move up a few picks within a round.

I like Randle, Sanu and/or Jeffery in the 2nd. And James (maybe in the 2nd) or Pead in the 3rd.
I am warming up to Polk too. I would be happy with him.

I know Miller is your boy. But I am not impressed. He lacks pass blocking skills and
seems like a one trick pony to me.
Agreed on Miller. My guy is Polk, but I think we're going to need to use our second. Be forewarned before clicking on the link below - you WILL WANT HIM.

How could you not? They guy runs so hard and refuses to go down (legs keep churning), breaks tackles, stays on his feet, is an INSANE receiver out of the backfield, and has sub 4.5 speed (as he says, no one ever caught him from behind). Just sit back and watch the clip. You will have fun:

You Tarzan or Captain Caveman? lol
Just a general comment, perhaps stating the obvious, but I hope everyone realizes these youtube highlights are not at realtime speed. Watching some of these highlights these guys are running at sub 4.0 speed. But nonetheless Polk looked good, just wished people publishing these would keep them in realtime speed.

I only look at relative speed - that is, the speed of the guy I'm focused on relative to all of the guys who are running around him.

Don't know why. Still working for me. You can find it on Youtube. It's his 2011 Washington Highlights. I never even needed to look at 2010, but maybe I'll do that now to enhance my man-crush.

Fair enough to each his own. I would love Randle and Jeffrey, not interested in Sanu at all, James in the 3rd would be ok but he is really undersized and Pead seems to be moving up everyones board.

Miller will be a great back in this league, ive had the pleasure of watching him play over the last 2 seasons and the kid can flat out run. Im just glad we didnt waste a 1st rounder on Martin. I couldnt believe that the Giants picked up David Wilson at 32. Makes me think the RB's will be flying off the board early in the 2nd round. I have a feeling the Bengals trade up.
Hopefully Jeffery will fall to the Bengals and then they are able to get James with their first pick in the 3rd and use the second 3rd round pick on BPA.
