I mean an administration reversing the trend - noticeably cutting defense spending in favor of social programs. (God forbid 🙄) Quote
Gary Posted July 14, 2024 Report Posted July 14, 2024 My food bill went from about $150 a month for myself to about $300. Gas bill went from about $150 to $300 a month (Fill every week and it's about $75 a tank up from $35-$40 a tank). Cat food per can went from about $0.49 a can to $0.89 a can. I volunteer for a homeless shelter, and I also volunteer for the SPCA and help to foster cats and dogs. During Trump we turn away volunteers and ask that they donate food or money. During Biden we can't find enough people that can afford to help us so we pay for all of our own food and milk replacement. We are at 25% volunteer staff for the SPCA and cannot even come close to volunteer staffing. We eliminated passing out lunch meals to homeless because of the cost of food increase. We have also lost about 50%-75% of our volunteer staff and cannot find enough people to help. It's not just the normal people being affected. It's affecting pets and homeless people too in a major way. I usually vote libertarian even though I was registered as democrat. I changed to independent in 2019. Probably voting Trump because of how bad my life was affected in the last 3 years. I know everyone has a different story, but I can't vote democrat and look at myself in the mirror. My 401k is fine this year, but in the prev 3 years under Biden my 401k made less % wise than any one year under Trump. I was planning on actually retiring early, and almost did, but right now I can't even come close to retiring. This friggin economy sucks. I live in Cali so a lot of the blame goes towards Newsome. He's a flipping train wreck. And being a person of color I would never vote for racist Biden. Some of the stuff he's said is just insane. Not to mention his "you aint black if you don't vote for me!" WTF is he smokin. Telling people of color that they aren't black anymore if we don't vote for the white man? fuck that. I hate that old fucker. His party LOVES my vote, and once they get it they ignore us. Republicans aren't much better either so I don't vote for republicans either. If you feel that Biden has helped you $ wise then flipping volunteer. Spend some of your time and money to volunteer, because nobody has enough money or time anymore these days, so if you do we need all the help we can get. 1 2 Quote

Corporate profit has been through the roof as well, I posted a lot of this in the inflation thread that is archived now, but they have been on earnings calls literally bragging about their profits. There is a stat in that thread showing that inflation during this period has been 1%, the rest has been corporations gaslighting us and taking advantage during uncertain times. It's why you have heard of guys like Bernie talking about a windfall profit tax. During emergencies, it is against the law for people to do things like charge more for essentials, like water etc. We should really consider that for corporations during things like a global pandemic. 1 2 Quote

And if you did any research you would know that this went up in other countries far greater and that much of it is corporations raising prices and due to logisitcal issues and then never bringing them down.. Also the first black president in the US has a racist VP....sure. 1 Quote

Also the first black president in the US has a racist VP....sure. Biden was a big time segregationist, supported racial profiling & mandatory minimums, & (just one example) has done fuck-all to curb the expanded powers of CBP/ICE or address how regional LEO like sheriff's departments take it upon themselves to harass minorities in the name of border security - even when nowhere near a border. Harris made a name for herself enforcing systemic racism. Now she's pandering with this cannabis legalization talk while saying nothing about all the people still in prison for nonviolent drug offenses. I appreciate that they're the presumptive candidates from the party that doesn't openly endorse white christian nationalism & encourage hate crimes but that doesn't absolve them of being racists or advancing racist policy. Likewise it may not be Biden's fault that companies are price gouging and evading taxes, but he's certainly not trying to stop them either. Quote

Completely fair. He is in the spot where he could very well lose because he hasn't done enough against corporate price gouging. That said Trump wont do a thing to curb their greed either, 1 Quote

Regardless, the only reason this race is at all close is because Biden is a feckless, doddering corpo whore. I don't know if "ooh scary Trump" is going to do it for him this time. Quote

T-Dub Posted July 14, 2024 Report Posted July 14, 2024 Forgot to mention continuing to aid & arm Israel. From what I'm seeing that is the single biggest issue losing him support among Dem voters. Quote
