Maybe there's a reason for it, but I'm very unimpressed with BJ's committment toward getting stretched out here. If this is his default approach, that may explain his pulled hamstring. Most of the guys are clearly taking this seriously. BJ looks like he can't be bothered. I hope he's serious about it out of view of the cameras.

Maybe the Blackburn women go to Joe's and his agent and restructure is contract to keep Tee here another 4'yrs.....

God knowss we need he and J'Marr to keep the passing attack dangerous.

I'm sure that it's real n their minds and id Katy is persuasive with MB it could happen...

Yes, Houston lost 12 games Watson's final year, but 8 of the losses were within one score. Watson was the one thing that kept Houston competitive in those games. If I am supposed to blame Watson for Houston's bad record his final year there, then I would have to also blame Burrow for Cincinnati's bad record this year so far. And of course I don't, That would be absurd.

totally fair. I had to go revisit his stats form that year, and without digging too hard, his total QBR was incredibly low, his second lowest as a texan, i dont recall if he was pulling an andy dalton and throwing short safe stuff and players made plays for him, he had a STABLE of solid players around him: David johnson, Duke Johnson, Brandin Cooks, Fuller, Cobb, Akins, Fells, etc. Johnson ran for 4.9 yards per carry on the season, his top three receivers were WR's at least, so it wasnt all RB dump offs or anything.

credit where credit is due, but he wasnt scoring any points, so its not like Joe this year, was averaging 30 PPG for a stint there, texans points scored was like 20/16/21/23/30/36/20/25/7/27/41/20/7/20/31/38  so high highs and low lows. so without going back and watching pointless 4 year old games, lol, ill side with you across the board here.

i dont even know what our run defense is like, all the talking idiots keep talking about how bad it is, but in the two total games we had our guys, it was pretty solid, even against the ravens is was REALLY good until the last play in OT, i get all yards count but 4.5 qtr of allowing under 100 yards to Henry+Lamar is good. I dont think i care what the stats were with larry fucking Guy starting

Just sitting here going into Browns week thinking, we are literally 2 plays away from 4-2 instead of 2-4.

2 fucking plays.

shit we are like 4 plays away from 6-0 such is life in the NFL, you are what you are.

me neither but I also think all the "bad luck" and "better than their record" talk avoids accountability.   ditto acting as though murphy that's been injured for most of his bengals career, a 30 year old rankins, and some mid-round rookies all being (gasp!) hurt was some unforeseeable matter of fate.

fact is they've looked unprepared and/or unfocused most of the year while playing losing football.  they have to own that.

*sigh*

so for you, nothing in the world happens? just someone fucked up is the only scenario of anything? My Nuggets would have 2 championships instead of one is Jamal Murray didnt hurt his hamstring and calf in the playoffs, easy dubs if healthy. its been 5 months, he is still getting back to normal and tweaked his knee in a preseason game the other day. Now the regular season start is in jeopardy, and fans are like "they shouldnt have paid him" "they should have signed another PG(they cant)" etc..  and thats what all this feels like

to win in the nfl you need: Talent, Health and luck. is that something you disagree with? So if it came down to the bengals and bills in the AFC Championship, and the bengals played a healthy KC, and the Bills played them with Mahomes hurt, we lost, they won. thats lucky for the bills, their GM didnt draft better, they didnt sign guys faster, they just had the luck of the draw. and thats a single game made up scenario, of which there are 3-5 instances per game, let alone per season.

but thats just someone fucked up and isnt being held accountable or what?

They looked that way against New England for sure.  Not so much in taking KC to the wire and BAL to overtime.  I get it , a loss is a loss and there’s no moral victories in the NFL.  Bottom line is the defense hasn’t been close to good enough and injuries have definitely contributed to that, along with poor drafting and player development. Time will tell if getting healthier will make much of a difference, but I don’t think it’s going to make it worse.

so if did NOT look like they had done a full gameplan with Tee higgins and jamarr as a unknown who hadnt even practiced, made the plan, implemented it, practiced that game plan.

then after that, with ONLY a walk through left in the week, Tee is out, the featured WR, and STILL didnt know about Jamarr as he held them hostage until the morning of (i know this for a fact) and had different players than entirely gameplanned for on offense

and had no depth on the Dline but at least had starters. the defense held them to 16 points (phenominal, no matter who the opponent is) and the offense looked like, you know. the gameplan and everything got completely fucked.

so like "the defense hasnt been close to good enough" so you think the defense, an NFL primed prepped defense, can just insert random dudes, call guys off the street, have terrible, guys off th street strarting on the line, get no rush from said bad players (and hampered Hubbard mind you) leaving the DB's out to dry and qb's with all the time in the world.

they should have just magically over come that somehow?

which poor draft and player development are you talking about? cause it looks to me like we ahve some really really solid drafted rookies on the DL, it really feels like that comment is in the dream world, in which no one here pays any attention to other teams drafts, and thinks the bengals are worse at drafting than everyone.

as if nfl teams are just hitting home run after home run on rounds 3-7 and the bengals are just dumb, and every other nfl team is nailing 90% of thier first and second rounders, and the bengals just suck

none of that is happening, none of it... you know that right?

this is the part I am not giving them a pass on, along with the brain farts & sometimes rudderless feeling from the sideline

this is just pure fan fiction nonsense through and though to be honest.

The disconnect from fans to what goes on in an nfl organization couldnt possible be bigger. who was it on defense that said this year "yall dont know at all what really goes on and it shows"

they were completely correct.

Zac also said that while Brown should have gone down after picking up the first down with 1:52 left instead of scoring, it was his (Zac's) fault. He correctly said he doesn't expect players to be doing math in the huddle. He correctly said it was his responsibility to make the players aware of the strategy, as dictated by the situation.

Yet he failed to inform the offense. How many seasons does he need to coach to know he needs to have a time/timeouts chart that tells you when it's time to take a knee? When you have the lead and the ball, that's not the time to start calculating the straightest path to victory. I'm glad he took ownership of the faux pas, but when can we expect these faux pas to stop?

It's not news to any coach that the objective is NOT to score touchdowns. It's to have more points than your opponent when the clock hits :00. If you have the ball and the lead and the ability to bleed the clock to 0:00, that's what you do. (the Browns failed to understand this vs the Jets a couple of years ago, and lo and behold, the Jets came back to win the game) And you don't wait until you're in that situation to figure out what to do, and when. If it's too much for Zac to remember or keep track of, then it needs to be someone's job, as the opponents' timeouts dwindle, to inform him of what time on the clock is the point at which ball carriers should get down instead of scoring and needlessly giving the ball back to the other team.

This is the stuff that drives me absolutely nuts about Zac. You get paid more in 1 year than most people will make in their entire lifetime. There are some basic things I expect from a head coach:

     > know and understand every last paragraph & sentence in the rule book

     > understand basic end-of-game clock management, and have a system in place to quickly & unambiguously convey that to players on the field.

BTW, as I composed this diatribe, I opened an Excel spread sheet and created a chart that tells you exactly how much time needs to be on the clock, depending on how many timeouts your opponent has, in order for you to kill the rest of the game off. Took 5 minutes. If Zac had this in his pocket, then the play call for Brown's TD run would simply have been accompanied by the reminder that all we need is a 1st down to end the game. Pick it up and then get down...in bounds. Ball game.

the percentages on this are so slim i dont think i even care. they scored 7 points all damn night i wasnt worried about them rattling off 10-14 in under 2 minutes. now if we were down 2 to the ravens and he scored id feel differently.

Then again…a player is mainly  trained to score. A basketball player has the time at the foul line to intentionally miss a free throw, as needed. A running back who suddenly breaks free for a race to the goal line will be driven by the sight of that goal line.

Or something like that…

lol yea thats gotta be a tough pull back. and im sure taylor also felt those fools werent going to score twice in 2 minutes.

cleveland is 100% one of those secondaries made so much more dangerous by their pass rush, they know they only have to cover for 2 seconds, SOMEONE is getting to the qb in that time. they used to have both insane talent in the secondary and an even more dangerous pass rush, shit was brutal, they no longer have as fierce of either. but both really good.

should be a good test for the bengals.
