I didn’t vote for Harris because she was a horrible candidate. But the orange troll and his sidekick, instead of trying to remake these agencies to be more efficient, are throwing out the baby with the bath water. It seems that there has been some wasteful spending at USAID, but there was other spending that did some legitimate good, and that’s going away. They now are targeting the Department of Education and want to completely eliminate it also. So guess what? You eliminate the DOE? The kid with ADHD, or the kid with autism, they can kiss their IEPs goodbye. In the Republicans’ efforts to dismantle DEI programs, they forget that inclusion includes people with disabilities. Are they eliminating programs to help them, too? I think that we would all agree that people with disabilities are much better served by programs that help make them productive citizens instead of a drain on the social welfare programs that the Republicans want to “reform “. My main problem is that the pendulum is swinging far too right from being far too left. Why can’t this government find a middle ground? I'd argue that what's been painted as "Far Left" or even "radical" would be considered moderate or even conservative under any normal circumstances. What did Biden or Obama do that was far left? 2 Quote

If this cryptofascist nerd wants to eliminate wasteful spending let's start there. Nobody voted for Elon Musk. Why the fuck are we letting some illegal immigrant control the US budget? You'd have to be pretty fucking dense to believe a lifelong con artist like Donald Trump has any notions of fiscal responsibility. His goal is an uneducated white ethnostate in service to billionaires. Anything that doesn't serve his interests directy is useless in his piggy little mind. Quote
Jamie_B Posted February 10 Report Posted February 10 Leon talking about impeaching the judge that told him he had to destroy the data he and his kids collected from Treasury. Shebengal Posted February 10 Report Posted February 10 Now they’re going after the CPFB. Because God forbid that people be protected from banks being unscrupulous. 😳🙄 https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/shows/maddow/blog/rcna191526 And the budget director in charge of it is one of the authors of Project 2025. Also, and this one hits me and every other scholarship student or parent of a scholarship student personally, the Republicans are proposing taxing college scholarships!!! https://apnews.com/article/trump-administration-education-college-loans-532d52c2ccac8b4be459f7797fb63a73 So, you work hard in high school, get good grades, participate in extracurricular activities, build up a resume worthy of attaining a scholarship, and the Republicans want to reward your hard work by taxing it??? WTF??? They want to make it even harder for students to afford college? Guess they need to make sure that America’s brightest can’t get the education to get the jobs that can go to foreign workers on H1B visas. This one REALLY pisses me off!!! Quote

A higher percentage of scholarships are reserved for disadvantaged kids, those facing historic discriminatory admissions policies, children of refugees, etc. Now that they've legalized the discrimination again they're going after the people who are already in the universities. All about maintaining an underclass that can be easily exploited for their labor while blaming everyone beneath them for their predicament. Quote

I don't find it hilarious at all. My Dad was a Vietnam vet, I'm not naive about our country, but I was still raise to believed there was something to it. He probably got the crazy idea from the SCOTUS that last year ruled that the president had immunity. Again, the orange troll and the so-called hillbilly need to read the Constitution they took an oath to defend. Some of the judges ruling against them were appointed by Republican presidents. Quote
Jamie_B Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 1 hour ago, MichaelWeston said: Does anyone have any specifics on what they are cutting? Right now it's all talk, Elon has no real authority and Judges have already told him to stop and destroy what he has done. The real test will be the budget battle next month I imagine they might come to a deal for cuts but think/hope the Dems wont let them shut down any agency. The question will be then will Elon double down or get frustrated that the government doesn't run like a business and he is not CEO of it and even if he is a "Shadow President" he still has limits to his power. Now if Trump is serious about ignoring the courts, that could get ugly. 1 Quote
