Could be worse. If a home game all the drama and trauma of being away from home all afternoon or eating the ticket.

Idk about you guys, but I would prefer a Thanksgiving game over a Christmas game. I'm old school and like to sit by the tree with the fire crackling and the classics playing, would rather not be stressed that day lol

As we wait for the NFL's 2024 schedule release party, let's look at one part of the equation we already know: strength of schedule.
The 2024 opponents are set, so while we don't know when each game will take place, we know the matchups.
Below is a ranking of teams with the toughest strength of schedule entering 2024 to the easiest slate, courtesy of NFL Research.

Let's first acknowledge that since SOS is based solely on how a club's opponents finished the previous season, it's a flawed metric. It doesn't consider how teams wound up where they finished a year ago (i.e., injuries), nor does it factor in offseason improvements. It also says little about how a team's future season will go.
For instance, the Eagles had the hardest strength of schedule entering 2023 yet became the second such club to make the playoffs since 2017. Philadelphia's collapse down the stretch had more to do with injuries and inconsistent play than its opponents' previous records.
Playing in the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons had the easiest strength of schedule entering last season. They missed the playoffs at 7-10. Since 2020, including ties, three of the five teams with the easiest SOS entering the season made the postseason; the '23 Falcons and '22 Commanders were the outliers.
As long as we don't make grand predictions based on a flimsy metric, perusing SOS can be a simple, fun way to look at the upcoming season.
The NFL prides itself on season-to-season turnover, which is baked into the schedule. With division winners playing fellow division winners, teams that made strides one season see their opposition stiffen the next. The Detroit Lions, for example, entered 2023 with the 13th-easiest schedule on their way to an NFC North title. In 2024, they enter with the 11th-most difficult.
We can further break down the schedule based on how many previous playoff teams a club is set to face -- again, this is not a metric for determining future outcomes but a simple fact that could affect how many prime-time or standalone games a club might find on its schedule.
The Baltimore Ravens face 10 2023 playoff teams, one more than any other club.
Ravens (10): CLE (2x), PIT (2x), PHI, BUF, KC, DAL, HOU, TB
Bengals (9): CLE (2x), PIT (2x), BAL (2x), PHI, KC, DAL
49ers (9): LAR (2x), DET, DAL, KC, GB, MIA, BUF, TB
Cowboys (9): PHI (2x), BAL, TB, HOU, DET, CLE, PIT, SF

https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/05/08/bengals-amarius-mims-best-pick-2024-nfl-draft-1st-round/
Amarius Mims crowned 'best pick' of 2024 NFL draft's 1st round
Mims is a fantastic athlete for his size but struggled with injuries at Georgia. Regardless, he allowed just six quarterback pressures across 402 career pass-blocking snaps and should start very soon, as Trent Brown is only a short-term solution for the team at right tackle.

Turned some heads with that one.
Not sure who the Bengal is watching it but love it.
Impressing his teammates.

Reds lose tonite 4-3
16-20 record.....
7 straight losses.
I was hopeful for a 20-20;record after 1st qtr of season.
CES on IR 4-6 wks with wrist (hairline fracture)..
The starters have a combined 3.11 era in this losing streak.
Add that LH Brandon Williamson will be back as a starter only enhances this rotation.
TJ Freidl is the "Lil Engine That Could" on this team.
A certain aura and spirit he exudes changes with him back.
16-20 isn't good but it's Early and things will change for the better.
Gotta believe...I do.

Tackling and getting off blocks certainly has something to do with when you react and how quickly you react. Leverage, technique, footwork, momentum all matter.
They moved on from a first round pick at FS

No...just a young girl caught in the middle of a war...
The 35 children killed by Hamas Oct 7 were innocent victims as well or dont they count in your world?
Do you even know any of their precious souls names?

Interesting that the one heโs holding is the one chosen in 1980 to replace the block โBengalsโ version.

Granted JB is a badass & all but IDK if a defense predicated on him completing 50 passes a game for 5+ TD's every week is going to get it done. The other teams have playmakers too, there are going to be close ones - particularly in our division or the playoffs. Weren't doing a great job vs the AFCN last year even before they lost JB as I recall.. I mean damn, he's still winless against Cleveland. Didn't anyone tell them we were in the Super Bowl a few years ago? It's like they don't even care! ๐ฅท
Beyond that, these teams that make the playoffs year after year do it by controlling their divisions. The exceptions are usually the ones losing in the Wild Card round every time.
Anyway.. Burrow to Chase is already carrying the offense, tellin' me they have to carry the defense too?

Both LBs signed long term extensions before the season started, that's why nothing was done because the Bengals just committed 50 million dollars to the position.
The LBs struggled with tackling and getting off blocks, that has nothing to do with setting up the defense...it's pre-snap vs post snap...also LBs should be able line up the defense so that excuse does make sense to me.
-
Do not forget about the 41 inch vertical as well.
If you have a QB capable of getting him the ball where he can do the most damage, Gesicki becomes (yet another) matchup nightmare for defensive coordinators.
-
It was stated that the LBs were not reacting as quickly because they had to set defenses more and ensure the Safeties, who had previously set the defenses were in the right place....so then they were slow to react and then weren't in the right position to make plays. I think this is obviously somewhat true in that we did nothing at LB and completely reset at starting safety.

Yeah, that one bothers me, too. ๐ There's been debate as to whether the E was intentional or accidental, and some are pretty passionate about their stance on the topic.
Yeah, I'd group those into the "don't look good" category. ๐

With a huge catch radius at 6'6

^ Backwards hat Burrow is this year's sensation ๐ ๐งข and I'm here for it

Players want more guaranteed money on longer contracts. They don't discount themselves for free, after all. And the Bengals don't like to pay out guaranteed money after the first year.
-
The odd part is that it's not too hard to stop NFL running games. If we had a thumper or two as backup LBs, we could rotate them in and bulk up.

๐คก Cody Benjamin is an absolute fucktard!
