turningpoint Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I think I can quite honestly say, I have driven with a blood alcohal content near .92, it's really not much, maybe 4-5 drinks in a 2 hr period. Now I;ve never driven DRUNK, but under the unfluence of alcahol YEAH I have. I also have 2 speeding tickets for going 83 in a 60.... I've done both, however I've never done both at the time same time. IDK about you guys, but If I've had a little to drink and I'm still fine to drive, i'm following the driving laws like I'm taking a driving test. This is really where Henry screwed up and it could really make his chances of making the team in jepoardy. Which is really too bad.

Yet to go on trial in another. Been thru some kind of rehab . He must know unless he is a complete moron that he is on the thinnest ice ever. Then decides its a good idea to have a few drinks and then drive like a bat out of hell. I think it is time too rid our team of this guy. If he don`t get it by now, I have not much hope for him...
Storm Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 In itself its not that big of a deal but as a pattern of bad behavior emerges its a concern
Homer_Rice Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 It'll be a big deal to Henry if KW, Chatman, Brazell, and McNeal perform well at camp. If it comes down to a choice between relatively equal upsides as players, with radically different "character" quotients, then I suspect Henry might be the odd man out.
MULLY Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I'm guilty of both of these. In my younger days, about Henry's age now that I think about it, I drove drunk, I drove high, I sped. I broke all those laws and was lucky enough to not get caught or, even worse, kill someone. When I got to Japan I went to a bar one night to see a friend's band play. I got pretty toasted and drove home. It was easily an hour drive and wouldn't you know it, I got stopped less than a mile from my house. The cops put me in the back of the cruiser and had me blow the test. I failed it miserably. I was so obviously drunk that they probably just wanted to see how far past it I was. The cops talked a for a few minutes and decided to drive me and my car home. When they got me home they told me not to do it again and since that day I haven't driven my car if I was drinking. See, that's what a smart person does. They learn a lesson from their mistake. I was un-fucking-believably lucky that night and I chose to not let that just go in one ear and out the other. Unlike Henry. The fucking guy has enough heat on his ass as it is and then he just decides to put the icing on the cake. Fucking moron. Sure, he may grow out of it but his career will be years past by that time. I say cut his ass loose. Let him experience life without that NFL paycheck. MULLY
bengaldee Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 The difference between him and us , he is a nfl player. How many chances does a guy need?We don't get that many chances.
Guest WhoDeyForever Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006
3 arrest in 6 months is BAD, he is gone.
Exactly. I just want to get rid of this guy and pay the fine and just get on with it. We have many other recievers that can take his place. KWash,McNeal,Brazell,Chatman.
Guest Bengals1181 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I can't beleive we're actually sitting here taking a poll on whether drunk driving is a big deal or not.
Guest Johnsons4Life Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 If this was his only arrest for a DUI than it might not be a big deal. But after a few arrested in a short period it is a big deal.

Guest sigfox77 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I have a different take on this situation. Much like the majority of younger adults Chris Henry drove drunk and in his case he was caught. Henry receiving a DUI isn't all that troubling for me, since I have also driven drunk, but wasn't caught. I do not drink and drive anymore, but I have done so on quite a few occasions primarily while in college. Here is what I find troubling. Chris Henry had been drinking and decided to drive home, in my experience when drinking and driving you generally try to be very cautious in an effort to avoid being caught. You dont drive 82 in a 60 after you have been at that bar for a few hours. Henry has no common sense, it is not like he is doing things that majority of people arnt doing he just isnt bright enough to take the extra precautions to avoid being caught (i.e having pot in your car with expired plates). Until he grows up and actually gives up the life of a juvenile someone needs to take him aside and say if you plan to do this illegal action you need to take a few precautions to avoid being caught since he obviously lacks the common sense to take these precautions on his own.

Guest Claptonrocks Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Im sure Marvin and his staff have had numerous talks with Henry concerning his behavior...do you think it goes unnoticed? Apparently it's not really sinking in too deep.. Then again maybe Henry's coprehension isnt all that deep if you get my drift.. Had a guy that worked for me that had this Henry aptitude for getting into minor trouble.. good worker but allways screwing up like that. People told me to cut ties with him but I kept thinking he'd change sooner or later...he didnt.. cut him and the company he's with now is going thru the same thing.. he's on probabion with them now.. some guys never get it... doesnt make him a bad guy just one that never really gets it... Is he bad for the image of the team ? yes Could it lead to players thinking there's a double standard? maybe Do I think he'll get his act together soon? not really Is there another reciever to take his place? probably so Would I cut ties with him now? I think I would..

I said it`s only illegal when you get caught. And even then, it`s just a misdemeanor. (1st offense DUI) My ex-wife lost both her legs (before we met) from riding with a drunk driver. My first cousin, who was also my best friend in the whole World, was killed in 1999, because he was drinking and driving. Plus I had 2 other friends die from drinking and driving in the 80`s. I know all to well the seriousness of drinking and driving. That`s why I don`t do it. But I`m not to naive to think it doesn`t happen EVERDAY and people don`t get caught. I`m not making excuses for Henry. Yeah he`s dumb and irresponsible. But the NFL and the Bengals are a business. And that business is all about winning football games. I don`t care what players do off the field to theirsleves. If they commit criminal acts against others... then it means more to me. Bottom line is, in this business, if you are talented and can help your "company" you`re going to get more chances than a mediocre, or below average "worker". Ecspecially when the crimes you commit are misdemeanors. But that same logic applies to most businesses...

Jamie_B Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 What makes it such a big deal (law aside) is that its the 3rd time for something in a few months. Had this been the only issue we all would be bothered by it but let it go as we did Justin Smith. Had the Pot been the only issue we would have been upset but probabally would have goten over it. The gun thing...well thats just stupid reguardless. But the fact that it has been three seperate things in a very short time period makes it pretty bad. At minium he should get a several game suspension even if its enforced by the team, at maxium he should be let go. That decision is in the teams hands now.

My "joke" was intending to make light of the fact that while we ALL have/are engaged in some activity that is "forbidden by law" ... it`s no big deal to us, our job, our family, or society, unless/until we are caught. Phatcat Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 The law says driving a car without your seatbelt is illegal and driving a motorcycle without a Helmet is legal. Go figure...... If you're 10 year old son is in the front seat he must have his seat belt on, if he is the back seat of your car it is ok for him not be in a seat belt. Go figure...... If you drive at a BAC of 0.08 you are commiting a crime. If you are talking on the cell phone you are perfectly within your rights. Hell, it has been studied and documented over and over again, that cell phones are leading to more accidents than someone who is "legally" intoxicated:
Drivers conversing on a cell phone were involved in more rear-end collisions, and their reactions were 8% slower relative to normal baseline; it also took them 15% longer to return to normal speed. By contrast, drivers who were legally drunk (at or above .08% blood-alcohol) showed no higher accident rates than normal, nor did they exhibit significant variation from normal baselines for reaction times or return to normal speeds. The conclusion of the researchers: Drivers on cell phones showed greater impairment, less responsive behavior and more accidents than drunk drivers.
FATAL DISTRACTION? A COMPARISON OF THE CELL-PHONE Although the law says .092 is drunk and illegal if driving a vehicle, you are safer on the road with this person than the other 50% of the people on the road talking on their cell phone. I'm not condoning drinking and driving, but a little perspective is also required. Oh yeah, note to Henry - get your head out of your ass and stop being a dumbass.
turningpoint Posted June 5, 2006 Author Report Posted June 5, 2006 Well in most states a .92 is LEGAL.
