The attendants held their hands under Green's helmet to gently steady his head.
I swear from my television set, it sounded as if they were boo'ing. Brad St.Louis
ESPN deemed it a helmet-to-helmet hit. I thought geathers hit him with his shoulder pad, no? TheChosenOne
The hit was obviously "intentional". Maybe it wasnt avoidable, maybe he was blocked forward, but he was trying to hit the QB wasnt he? Dont get me wrong, I am not saying he tried to hurt Green and I am not saying it was a dirty hit, I think I am just arguing semantics.
You're right and it is a semantics issue. As a defensive player you're trying to hit the opposing QB there. It was intentional, and legal. If it was a helmet to helmet hit he would have been penalized 15 yards. Clayton needs to spend less time spewing bullshit and more time watching the replay. Guest IndianaBengal
these defenders get payed MILLIONS OF greenbacks to do what Marv says, "Do Your Job". If a qb is still headed in your direction and wants to slide as he arrives at your feet. he has gambled TOOOO much. He is now OPEN SEASON. Bengalino
Trent Green is a great guy, but lets be honest, its been a while since anyone regarded him as hot stuff. Keep in mind the ONLY time KC scored a touchdown was from their backup QB, and a series of perfect throws to Tony Gonzalez. I think they will hold up just find. Phatcat
thansk Steggy. CASED CLOSED............. oh and by the way, anyone else who thinks otherwise just needs to SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!! EDIT - I am more than happy to engage in an intelligent debate, but I will be honest........ I see NO rational, reasonable, or logical debate on this hit be illegal or a hit that could be avoided. Plain and simple - Green made a decision to go for the first down. He had a choice.

TheChosenOne
Steggy if it's not asking too much can you find a shot of the hit itself? I want to see if it was actually helmet-to-helmet, I was pretty sure it was his shoulder hit Green's helmet.

Utts
I still think it was a clean hit, but those stills don't prove much. Green obviously didn't go from a flat out run to that position instantly. His slide started earlier than that.

TheChosenOne
I still can't tell if he started diving before Green started his slide or not. BUT it was obviously a shoulder hit and NOT a helmet-to-helmet hit. The replay is clear on that.

Geathers is already in mid-dive. Case closed. This is about when Geathers begins the dive. As you see. it's hard to tell if Green is about to slide or juke at this moment. Remember, from the last picture, he slides with his right foot forward. I would've went for the tackle myself. Geathers has to make the play. This is where his head hit. Kind of a bad shot, but you notice it's not coming off his helmet, it's in the shoulder area.
TheChosenOne
This won't convince the people who have already convinced themselves it was a cheap shot, but there's no way the league office would fine this. It's obvious it was not a helmet-to-helmet hit. ( Hi Clayton!)
Guest steggyD
Yeah, the helmet to helmet hit is total bullshit. I still think that Geathers did intend to hit Green, who wouldn't? But when he went for the hit, it's NOT OBVIOUS of Green's intentions to slide at that point.
MajorVirus
I hope that Trent Green is ok and makes a full recovery asap. But there should have been a flag IMO and not agaisnt Geathers but agaisnt KC for the block in the back. KC did get away with a few calls but if Trent didn't get hurt then that would have been another call they got away with. About the hit...any Defensive player would have done the same thing as Geathers did and that is to tackle the ball carrier. End of Story!!!!
