lol, this happened in MONROE, NFL tappin on our Flee Market!
Trader’s World Raid Nets Counterfeit NFL Jerseys

MONROE, Ohio -- Monroe Police are spending the day tagging counterfeit NFL jerseys as evidence.

Detectives say they seized more than 2,000 fake football jersey's during a bust at Trader's World on Sunday.

Four Trader's World vendors are under investigation. Their names are not being released because they are not yet charged.

Monroe Detectives tell 9News someone who works for NFL merchandise got a tip while working in Cincinnati about illegal apparel at Trader's World. That NFL employee checked out the booths at Trader's World and then called police to take the items away.

The jerseys were being sold at Trader's World for about $40. Investigators say they should retail for $175 to $225.

Detectives say the shirts are made in China. While they look legitimate, detectives say there are clear indicators that they are copies.

Once the case is over the jerseys will have to be destroyed.

Detectives say if you bought one of the fake jersey's it is illegal to own it. However, they say they aren't going to come after you unless you try to sell it.

In the last 12 months Monroe Police have also busted vendors at Trader's World for selling fake purses and DVDs.

The manager of Trader's World says vendors who sell counterfeit items are not welcome at his property. He says the vendor's rental agreement does not permit selling or displaying of counterfeit merchandise.

and how are they not busting the people on ebay?

ebay has been very strict on that kind of stuff anymore. if you post it, it might come down from ebay quick. you have to go to Ioffer.com to get that kind of stuff now since it's in china and they don't give a fuck about the NFL. but agree, the NFL can kiss my ass, i won't pay $275 for their jersey now way. i will buy the knockoffs all day.

They looked pretty damn good for knockoffs.

And I agree; they're being made by the same slave labor in China, just a different factory.

$275 my ass... :glare:

its pretty easy to get real ones cheaper, eastbay does 20%-25% off gift cards around xmas.. so i buy a 165-175 gift card for like $125-130, and they have 30% off any order over $199 pretty often in may/june..

so i get the $275 jersey market down to like $170-180 and use my gift card that i only paid $125-130 for..

suckers.

Anyone who spends $125 for a FOOTBALL JERSEY is retarded.

I don't mind spending good money for good clothes, and I have to dress well for my job, but $125 for a jersey is just ridiculous. There is nothing expensive or special about either the material or the workmanship involved in making an NFL jersey.

I was visiting my parents in Centerville this past October, and wanted to get a jersey while I was there. Someone on this board had posted that they had gotten one at Trader's World on the cheap, so I drove down there and got myself an "authentic" orange Maualuga jersey for 50 bucks. I figured all of their jerseys were knock-offs (not that I cared), but my suspiscion was confirmed when I saw an 85 jersey with "Ocho Cinco" on the back. No wonder they got busted.

They do. People frequently get busted at Traders World for counterfeit crap. It just not usually for things as high profile as NFL jerseys, or for quite so big a haul.

Many of the mass Ebay stores are not actually in the US so its hard to do. They use a US address to mail and set up a paypal account but the merchandise never sets foot in the US until it is shipped directly to the buyer.

I used to own some commercial property and a lady who sold high end hand bags (wink, wink, nod, nod) rented some of the space and sold them there. She was a great tenant for about 2 years then one day she calls and said she was moving out. EVERY HAND BAG (100s) were out of there in less than 12 hours. Seems her partners got busted at some flee market in Brookville and she thought they were on their way to her store.

They don't mess around either. They take everything, destroy it and the owners get fined big time. Some of her stuff seemed well made but as GO said, some (most) of it was real cheap crap. I guess if you want people to think you can spend $3-800 on frikken purse its a cheap alternative. From what she told me, her profit margins were pretty sick.

I'd be willing to set fire to those Stealers jerseys if they'd like.
That's not a bad idea. Rather than just destroying the jerseys, charge people for the right to destroy them and give the proceeds to charity.
