The Oakland Raiders continue to make quality additions to the coaching staff. Chuck Bresnahan returns for a second stint with the Raiders and will serve as defensive coach.

“Chuck brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and we welcome him back,” said Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson. “I worked with him in Cincinnati and he is fiery, a motivator and a teacher.”

Bresnahan coached Raiders defensive backs (1998-99), then became defensive coordinator for the Silver and Black (2000-03). The Raiders won three straight AFC Western Division titles and played in Super Bowl XXXVII with Bresnahan as defensive coordinator.

Bresnahan was defensive coordinator of the Florida Tuskers of the UFL in 2010 after serving as linebackers coach in 2009. Bresnahan spent four seasons on the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff, including the final three as defensive coordinator.

From 1996-97, Bresnahan was linebackers coach with the Indianapolis Colts. From 1994-95, he coached linebackers with the Cleveland Browns. Bresnahan was defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Maine from 1992-93.

From 1988-91, he was an assistant at Georgia Tech, handling tight ends in his first season, then moving to inside linebackers for the final three seasons. During his stint at Georgia Tech, the school earned a share of the 1990 National Championship.

Before joining the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant in 1983 for the Naval Academy, Bresnahan was a three-year letterman, where he helped claim three Commander-in-Chief Trophies. He coached wide receivers/tight ends and special teams at Navy from 1986-87.

He was their DC when they went to a SB.

Just sayin'...

The quality of the players at the time was horrendous... he got Geathers playing SLB and got some great performances from Caleb Miller in the middle... The D was bad, but he had bad players and the year he got canned, the entire LB corps was on IR. Remember, Ndukwe and Geathers were playing LB that year... So I gotta give Bresnahan a shadow of a doubt. We should have had the same no excuses approach with you know who.

He has been successful everywhere he went... (except the Bengals, lol)

Not when you include the SB and don't forget they got screwed by the tuck rule or it would have been 2 SB's.

I was ragging on the Division, not really Chucky B. The D was on fire in 2005 and the injuries and age catching
up with the corners had something to do with the problems after that.
