oldschooler
By JOE KAY, Associated Press 7:02 PM Monday, October 17, 2011 CINCINNATI — Bengals middle linebacker Rey Maualuga wore a pink cast on his left foot Monday, an indication his ankle injury will sideline him for more than only one game. The team said Maualuga sprained his left ankle during practice last Thursday. He wasn't active for a 27-17 win over the Colts on Sunday. The Bengals are 4-2 heading into their bye this week, with their defense ranked among the league's best. Maualuga declined to talk to reporters as he passed through the locker room on Monday, supporting himself with two metal crutches. Coach Marvin Lewis hasn't given any indication how long he'll be out. The Bengals could get cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones back after the bye. Jones said on Monday that he's been cleared to return from offseason neck surgery. unleashed
After actually seeing the game on tv rather than down at the stadium i realized the team loses a lot just by not having Rey's intensity. Skuta is really hesitant to stick his nose in the pile to try and make something happen like Reggie Nelson and Clements have a knack for. MLB has to be aggressive but not to the point where you're running past the plays. Not saying Maualuga plays perfectly, but his presence in the game lets the offense know they're not going to get any easy runs up the middle. Here's to a speedy recovery to Rey....we will need him to drop the hammer on Pissburgh at the latest.
oldschooler
Linebacker Rey Maualuga was walking around the locker room with a cast on his left ankle, which is the same one he broke in 2009. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bengals/notes.htm
The PatternMaster
No talk of Rivers coming off the PUP, only AJ or the player formerly known as Pacman. Hopefully we get him back soon because you can never have enough healthy linebackers, especially in a physical division like ours.

oldschooler
And amid all that, middle linebacker Rey Maualuga emerged on crutches and said the best-case scenario for his return from a sprained ankle is Nov. 6 in Tennessee. “But I’m not a doctor. I’m not sure,” Maualuga said before Tuesday’s practice. “I’m in a cast, but I don’t know why (because it’s not broken).” http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Bengals-mum-on-trade-report-players-react-Benson-to-miss-a-game-Rey-hopeful-for-Nov-6/30f22055-e84b-4a25-b587-9c6c31cb01db
happyrid
Interesting. He was tailgating with some people I know before the last game. As long as he's back for Pittsburgh I guess. Though it'll be tough to win on the road without him these next couple weeks.

Glad it's not a 4th or (thank God) a 5th degree lateral ankle sprain. Now, that's painful. LOL, how many degrees are there?
