Sure, Jen is the best QB in our division. She's still a whiny doofus.
BIG BEN WAS THE SOURCE OF THE NBC REPORT
Posted by Mike Florio on September 17, 2008, 8:08 a.m. EDT
With the Steelers engaged in an odd game of semantics regarding whether quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s sprain of the AC joint constitutes a separation of the shoulder (technically, it does), coach Mike Tomlin has issued an open call for information regarding the source of the NBC report characterizing the injury as a separated shoulder.

“I have no idea where that report came from,” Tomlin said on Tuesday. “It didn’t come from me or my medical staff. If anybody has any information in here about where that report came from, send them to me. . . . The guy has a sore shoulder.”

As it turns out, perhaps Tomlin should talk to Roethlisberger himself.

We’ve confirmed via review of the Sunday night broadcast and the strenuous application of elbow grease (e.g., answering the phone and/or opening our e-mail) that Roethlisberger himself told NBC personnel that he has a separated shoulder.

Maybe that’s why Roethlisberger behaved so bizarrely when asked point-blank questions about his shoulder after the game. Maybe he knew that he’d previously said too much, and that he was going to get himself in hot water with the head coach if he continued to run his mouth.

Then again, Big Ben has the ultimate cover for loose-lippedness. He can always blame his inability to control his tongue on the fact that little more than two years ago his tongue and the rest of his head slammed into a moving car.

BEN’S BIZARRE INTERVIEW
Posted by Mike Florio on September 16, 2008, 9:41 a.m. EDT
Several readers pointed out to us on Monday that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger engaged in a bizarre post-game interview with NBC’s Andrea Kremer on Sunday night. We’ve been unable to find the video, but we located a written summary of the situation.

Per WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger flat-out ignored questions about his shoulder, which was described by the team as “sore” and reported by NBC as a separation.

“How is your shoulder?” Kremer asked.

“Well, I’ll tell you what, Willie Parker ran the ball well at the end. Offensive line — can’t give them enough credit,” Roethlisberger said.

Though Roethlisberger wouldn’t talk about it, center Justin Hartwig told us on Monday night via our Ten Texts conversation that Roethlisberger isn’t 100 percent — but that no one else is right now, either.

UPDATE: A reader has posted the link to the video in the comments. Imagine that — an NBC interview available on the NBC web site. Who knew?

STEELERS DISPUTE REPORT OF BEN’S SEPARATED SHOULDER
Posted by Mike Florio on September 16, 2008, 11:27 p.m. EDT
Early in Sunday night’s NBC broadcast of the Steelers-Browns game, it was reported that Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a separated shoulder in the Week One win over the Texans.

The news prompted us to resort immediately to the floating Google barge, where we looked for any suggestion from the preceding days that Roethlisberger’s shoulder was something other than “sore”.

We learned that this was indeed something new. And the football world learned on Tuesday that the Steelers dispute the report.

“I have no idea where that report came from,” coach Mike Tomlin said at his weekly press conference. ”It didn’t come from me or my medical staff. If anybody in here has got any information about where that report came from, send them to me.”

The Steelers claim that Roethlisberger merely suffered a sprain of the AC joint. The AP points out that the distinction might be more of a potato/potatoe deal, since a sprain of the AC joint is a mild shoulder separation.

Regardless, Roethlisberger will continue to play with the condition. Whatever it might be.

ROETHLISBERGER HAD SEPARATED SHOULDER
Posted by Mike Florio on September 14, 2008, 8:23 p.m.
The Steelers disclosed this week that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a shoulder injury during the Week One romp over the Texans.

But the Steelers didn’t mention that Roethlisberger separated the shoulder.

Al Michaels of NBC mentioned the severity of the injury during the opening moments of NBC’s coverage of the game.

Roethlisberger, listed as probable in Friday’s injury report, will play on a windy night in Cleveland. Thanks to the remnants of Ike, the breeze could gust up to 60 miles per hour later in the game.

Andrea Kremer of NBC reports that offensive coordinator Bruce Arians hasn’t altered his game plan as a result of Roethlisberger’s shoulder or Ike’s fading rage. In fact, they plan to throw deep when the wind is at their backs
Add this one to the list of 104 fever, concussion, broken thumb, etc.

Never fear--the point of the post is that as usual he's manufacturing injuries to make himself look more heroic/give himself excuses

Hahahahahah, I love my Vlade Divac-esque fantasy QB. I just need to see one major flop from Big Jen to draw the Roughing the QB flag on the defense, that would really make my day!

Which injury did he manufacture exactly? An AC sprain is a class 1 shoulder separation. Sure, he shouldnt have said anything, but he didnt make it up.

He is on my fantasy team as well, and my backup is Jon Kitna. I'm in Bengals fan hell. (I also have Parker and the Steelers defense.)

I am thinking of starting Kitna this week.

I posted this in a thread this morining.
It is titled AFC North Notes. This is what I said on the matter . . .
Maybe it's just me, but I always thought Roethlisberger exaggerated his injuries.
If he has a bad game, blame it on the shoulder. If he has a good game,
what a tough player he is ect . . .
what a foolish statement that makes no sense.
Sorry, I ment to put a ninja after the comment. Big Jen can do pretty much whatever he wants as long as they win, just like Chad used to do whatever he wanted while we won. I seriously doubt anyone takes anything coming out of Pittspuke as accurate or truthful anyways so we shouldn't care.
