He got one thing wrong though, it was 1981, not 1982.[/quote]
Here is the order:
1- Kenny Anderson
2- Boomer Esiason
3- Carson Palmer (if Palmer can stay healthy, he will shatter all bengals QB records and will undoubtably be #1)

Not sure how many design/web/graphics/photographers we have here, but thought it was worth a shot. I'm starting to look for a 24" (something in that neighborhood) monitor for graphic design. Refresh rate isn't all that important, but something that I won't have to calibrate every couple days will be important. The Eizo's are amazing, but way out of my league at this point. The LaCie 324 is rather bad to the ass too, but $900 is still up there. I've heard the Apple cinema displays need lots of calibration, and that most of the "gaming" monitors (HP, Dell, Viewsonic, etc...) just can't hack it.

Is there a monitor that hits the investment/return sweet spot? I don't always get to work with Pantone spots, so getting a monitor that comes damn close to what will print is important.

Thanks for any and all help.

At the risk of stating the obvious, if exact colour reproduction is vital then you really do have to spend the money. There is no getting away from it :(

If you merely want something that's good and IPS panels are out of your league, then go for a VA Panel.

Whatever, just don't bother with a TN panel if you care remotely about graphic work. Btw, that Lacie really is a BMF.

Yeah. I found, of all people, an HP that may fit the bill (I hate HP. I've never seen a company put more bloatware onto their products than HP). The LP2475w is an H-IPS panel that, while apparently needing serious calibration when you set it up, is apparently pretty sick after said calibration. Also, it can be had from newegg for $550, which is totally more in my price range. I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything until after the 4th (just to keep impulse out of it :)), but that's definitely one I'll look into more.

I guess you're unfamiliar with Dell then...

Fortunately for you, at least for now, bloatware cannot be installed on a monitor.

Not for graphic design, but if anybody is looking for a great 24" monitor for surfing and gaming, I recommend this great buy right here ...

Not to hijack your thread, but if anyone reads this thread because of the 24" monitor, I'd like for them to see this deal. Free shipping even! I got one for myself, 0 dead pixels and no ghosting in game.

Oh, and HP monitors are good, and no bloatware. ;)

the last hp product I ever bought was a printer that, when installed, had no fewer than 8 processes running in xp. I didn't even install the crappy photo software or anything. Dell blows, but HP is still in a class by itself
