+ By not spending the 12 million on Carson & 6 million on Chad, enough $ will be freed up to sign Joseph & Benson & maybe even sign a big FA like Mankins.
I think that's the key. It really will turn out for the best if he leaves and we end up keeping J Joe and add pieces

I still contend that much of Carson's errancies come as much or more from his receivers ad libbing than him.
i think that's a generic, and very over-quoted line of horse shit and excuse making. in ANY given NFL offense, WRs have options on any given play. they pretty much have to, with defenders studying film before games and basically committing themselves to taking any proven WR's "money routes" and tendencies away.

so i pose this question to you. let's say you were in that WR's shoes, in that situation. do you stop your route, dead in it's tracks...forcing your QB to go to a different read? do you make an attempt to run that route anyway, instigating contact and a possible offensive pass interference penalty, never getting spacing and separation that is your ultimate goal on the play? or do you alter your route with a different option, hoping to take advantage of a defender trying to jump your first option?

you're putting too much blame on the wrong people, IMO. bob bratkowski's unimaginative offense...an offense that we often heard was one of the easiest to game plan against, where many defenders said they knew the play call before it was snapped merely by formation...an offense that had become far too stale for far too long... was the main source of the majority of this team's concerns. accordingly, we finally (after many grueling years of dealing with it's mediocrity) saw the team move in a different direction this off season. and it was about god damned time they did, too!

Outstanding comment.

Often we focus on the leaves and the twigs, whereas the root is what required fixing.

Jay Gruden, you can shut the fuck up. You are only where you are because your brother accomplished things in the NFL. You have zero on your resume.

You don't have the perspective Palmer has, which is having an enormous amount of talent. You can never put yourself in his shoes. You don't understand.

Plus, if you cut off your right leg, you wouldn't be that good, You'd be somewhere in the O'Donnell-Akili range. BJ would hate you.

And I contend that if you go back and watch the film he made horrible decisions often. Blame game is a two way street
Agreed.

For example, the pick 6 vs Tampa Bay this year was ALL Carson and it was inexcusable. He had his mind made up where he wanted to go and he was going there regardless of TO being wide open or a safety ready to pick the pass off. Turns out safety was there because the other team was prepared through film study of our easy to figure out offense and Palmer threw it straight to Grimm who returned it for a TD. That's on Carson. Horrible play by him and him alone.

He stared his receiver down often and threw into double and triple coverage often. He's just not that good of a QB anymore IMO.

*I love the pick of Dalton, and although he may end up not being the answer, one thing is for sure, Carson Palmer isnt either.

Some Bengal fans have become the 'answering machine creeper' who doesn't realize he was dumped 3 weeks ago. Carson is just not that into you. By clamoring for his return you look desperate - and it is undeserved because he was 4-12 and never won a playoff game.

Dalton wants to lead this team, yet some fans are still holding on to their photos of them in Carson's jersey while eating Ben & Jerry's and listening to their and Carson's song.

Let Carson go.
He underachieved and is washed up anyway.

It's comical to watch you torch Palmer and ignore many of the same other components that also suffer from the same flaws:

- 4-12 Last Season.
- Never won a playoff game.

Let's see, who fits that description as well: Shipley, Simpson, Gresham, Whitworth, Bobbie, Atkins, Dunlap, Geathers, Peko, Mike Johnson, Maualuga, Rivers, Hall, Joseph and most importantly: GM Mike Brown and HC Marvin Lewis. But only CP is to blame, riiiiiiiiiiight.

Yet you think by replacing Palmer with Dalton will change things drastically. You are making me hate Dalton with your idiotic logic. Second hand stupidity is real yall, Stay away from BJ.

Theorizing that Dalton will be good is just a guess ... but the reality is that Carson over the past 7 years hasn't been very good. At best he was average - an immobile .500 QB with no playoff wins, a lack of leadership, and a propensity to overthrow his recievers.

We as Bengals fans deserve better - and surely shouldn't beg some dickhole with 75 million dollars who repeatedly declares he never wants to step foot in Cincinnati again - to return to the team.

It's like some fans have BATTERED BENGAL QB SYNDROME.

As for Shipley et al, some of them have only been here a year or two and others have a great deal less to do with winning than the QB.

In regards to you hating Dalton because I like him - that is 3rd grade moronic reasoning.

I let go of the Palmer mirage and dream and realize I was blinded by irrational hope - time for you to delete his # from your cell phone and do the same. He's gotten fat now anyway. :morning1:

My guess is that Carson will be an All Pro if he comes back and plays within a new system. He was handcuffed by Brat. However, his career biological clock is ticking.

Fans deserve better, but we can wait forever. Our fan careers are long, Carson's playing career is almost over. I empathize with him wanting to go somewhere where he can win. He doesn't trust the Bengals organization. I don't either, but I'm sure I will outlive the regime, so I remain hopeful eternally.

but we didn't draft Jordan in the second round this year.. Jordan is a scrub we probably picked up because his brother wanted him...

I am not saying Dalton is going to be the best ever/superman/prow-bowler/Tom fucking Brady.. but I sure as hell can get behind him 100%... and forget all about the guy who wants out of town even though he is being paid like a top 5 QB....

I'll be on the Dalton bandwagon when:

- CP is traded.
- The season starts and CP is retired.

But for now, with everything up in the air, and the owner still thinking CP will "come around", I'm on the CP bandwagon. Palmer is better than Dalton, he gives the Bengals the best chance to win.

OK then.. we are just on opposite sides of this... no biggie...

If Carson comes back I will be behind him all the way too.... I just don't think it will happen..
I also understand that Carson is better than Dalton now and gives the Bengals the better chance of winning... not denying that...

I am just not for the guys who want out of town... I know the Bengals aren't the perfect franchise... but they are the one I love...so if a player doesn't want to be here... efm

"What impresses me is the location of Dalton's throws. He gives his guy a chance to run after the catch ... I think this guy does the best job of anybody in the draft, in my opinion, of doing that."
