JBandJoeyV
Most of you know Im an optimist, but I'm not really worried about they way we've been playing. Honestly we have had nothing to play for and even if you try to play with the menatitlity that you do, subconciously you still know it doesnt mean anything. Plus with a couple off days, even if the bats were hot, I dont think it would mean much. Good news is the pitching has been pitching pretty well and thats not just a recent trend, that is a whole season trend. No reason to think that cant keep up. Taking game 1 is HUGE, need JC to be pitching like the ACE he is.
oldschooler
Anyone enjoying this season? I got the following email from Todd Jones of the Columbus Dispatch. Todd was born and raised in Newport, Ky., and worked for the Cincinnati Post from 1987-97. From: Todd Jones The Reds had the second best record in the major leagues. Their 97 wins are the most by a Cincinnati team since 1976. This is the second division championship in three years for a team that previously hadn't won one since 1995. The Reds had two winning season from 1996 through 2009, including a stretch of nine consecutive losing seasons. Until this year, they've made the playoffs twice since 1991. Management signed Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips to big contracts early in the season. Barry Larkin was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in July. Homer Bailey threw a no-hitter last week. Todd Frazier might win rookie of the year. Team hasn't had a starting rotation like this in my lifetime. This is what I hear from Reds fans: "This team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs. Dusty Baker's lineups suck." Never seen a fan base get so little joy out of a magical year. I hate both teams, but have hated the Braves a LOT longer. I almost have to root for the Braves though. We were 5-1 against them, and they had a slightly better record against the Nats. BigDawgBengal
The Braves should beat the Cards. Medlen has been the most dominant pitcher in baseball since the All Star break. Also it's in Atlanta and I can't see them losing and this be Chipper's last game.
Lewdog
Well in the playoffs generally teams go with a 3 man rotation. So Cueto, Latos, and who else? I know Leake is headed to the bullpen. Arroyo or Bailey for the third spot? Bailey has been great late in the season, but Arroyo has more experience. Has there been any news of who is on the playoff roster?
