Khatmandude
maybe but if thats the case would defacing someone's memorial you revere be the best way of pushing that message? How do we know it was a "pro-Lincoln" person doing the defacing? Maybe it was done by an offspring of someone affiliated with the Fed who in a 4am drunken stupor, realized Lincoln's memorial within sight and wanted to remind the old man who really controls this country. T-Dub
The surprising thing to me is that you can apparently deface the Lincoln Memorial and not be caught on 50 different security cameras & shipped off to Gitmo before the paint dries

|Numbers|
You know what this looks like after seeing pictures of the green paint on the Lincoln Memorial ? One of those paint grenades. Sort of same splash effect but I guess it could have been done another way but a paint grenade would have been extremely quick and easily hidden in a pocket. Go Skins
A woman got arrested yesterday afternoon in the National Cathedral vandalism: http://wtop.com/109/3404543/Arrest-made-in-cathedral-paint-vandalism WASHINGTON - Efforts to remove green paint from two chapels inside the National Cathedral continue Tuesday — one day after police arrested a woman for the vandalism. The arrest comes after several local landmarks were found splattered with green paint over the last week. Jiamei Tian, 58, of no fixed address, has been charged with defacing the property. Initially, police identified her as Tian Jiamel. Tian was arrested near the cathedral Monday after green paint was found splattered there, the Metropolitan Police Department says. She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. In all, there have been four cases of vandalism with paint in D.C. since Wednesday. Tian hasn't been charged in other cases where green paint was found on landmarks. The first instance of vandalism came to light when green paint was discovered on the Lincoln Memorial on Friday, July 26. However, police later noted that on Wednesday, July 24, a statue of Martin Luther at the Luther Place Memorial Church on Thomas Circle and an organ inside the church were also hit with paint. The Joseph Henry statue outside the headquarters of the Smithsonian Institution was also vandalized. Efforts to question Tian about the other acts of vandalism, including at the Lincoln Memorial, were complicated by a language barrier, The Associated Press reports. It's believed Tian is homeless. The National Cathedral was shut down while authorities investigated the green paint that was discovered Monday afternoon. National Cathedral spokesman Richard Weinberg says green, wet paint was found splattered on an organ inside the Bethlehem Chapel. A music department employee discovered the damage about 2 p.m. Monday. Green paint also was found in the children's chapel, which is on the main level of the cathedral and is built to scale of a 6-year-old child, Weinberg says. The estimated restoration cost is about $15,000.

Go Skins
http://www.wtop.com/109/3404543/Green-paint-popping-up-on-historic-icons-across-DC WASHINGTON - A woman charged with defacing the Washington National Cathedral was carrying a soda can containing green paint when she was arrested, and she has been linked to at least four other incidents of vandalism, including at the Lincoln Memorial, according to prosecutors and court documents. Jiamei Tian, 58, appeared in D.C. Superior Court Tuesday alongside a Mandarin translator. The woman was arrested Monday at the cathedral, where she is accused of using green paint to deface an organ and decorative woodwork in two separate chapels. She's been charged with defacing and destroying private property. A judge on Tuesday ordered her held without bond. Authorities believe the green paint vandalism was part of a pattern of similar acts. Green paint was discovered splattered onto the Lincoln Memorial early Friday morning, and it was also reported Friday on a statue of Joseph Henry -- the Smithsonian's first secretary -- outside the Smithsonian headquarters on the National Mall. The woman, who has a Chinese passport, arrived in Washington a few days ago and was traveling on an expired visa, prosecutors said. Police said she had no fixed address but that she told officers she lived in Los Angeles. According to court documents, the woman is also suspected of vandalizing a statue of Martin Luther on Thomas Circle in downtown Washington, which was also hit with green paint. Following her arrest, a witness contacted police and reported that a person matching the woman's description had been seen attending a service at a church less than a block from Thomas Circle, according to court documents. The witness reported that the woman was carrying three bags with her. After she left, the witness found that a pipe organ in the church had been splattered with white paint, urine and feces, documents show.
