for those ken anderson fans. he is only charging $35 for ANY autograph, and will add 1 inscription for free.. so whether its a football card or a football, $35.

im not much of a ken anderson fan, but i know a lot are.. and the free inscription is cool, you can have him add "4x pro bowl" or "who dey" or whatever you want in addition to his signature..

you can mail items in to csashows.com if you dont want to go to virginia.

I am getting a baseball (gold glove edition) signed by ozzie smith, and a football by thurman thomas.

and unrelated to the CSA show im getting a green swingman larry bird jersey signed by larry..

i will then have 2/3 of the NBA jerseys i want, Jordan, Magic, and Bird, pretty much sums of my childhood watching the NBA... jordan is going to be a bitch to get.... paying for a legit authentic is probably $1700... scoring one in person is virtually impossible...

so that may take 10 years or so...

so many shows, so little money....

found 3 new places doing shows... and found out some players think awfully highly of themselves... like emmitt smith, charges $259 per autograph...

holy fuck..

i am planning on grabbing:

Larkin on a gold glove edition baseball

Ozzie Smith on a gold glove edition baseball

Lou Brock on a Gold Glove edition or regular baseball

Bo Jackson on an NFL football

Larry Bird on a switched white celtics jersey

Pondering:

Thurman Thomas on an NFL football

I am coveting a michael jordan signed bulls jersey... cost would be tremendous ($1500 to be a sure authentic signature).. but i have Magic, about to have Bird, would love to complete the childhood trifecta with Jordan/magic/bird...

Demarcus Ware & Von Miller doing a signing in two-ish weeks at local shop i use... cant decide between footballs or large-ish photos...

Also cant decide if I just want to drop off stuff a few days before or come wait in line and meet and greet, etc...

I have to go there a few days prior to drop off balls for CSA show... but kids might be excited to go see the players... but im not sure i can afford 3-6 signatures for the kids to get stuff too... maybe they can each get one player to sign something...

shits pricey...

torn on getting a pete rose gold glove baseball, i already have a regular one and a bat and a photo framed... seems like overkill but he fits into my reds gold glove setup....

von miller was a super nice guy, shook the boys hand, asked how they were doing, if they were having fun, asked what color they wanted the photo signed in..

photos were for me... kids said "i dont even care about autographs i just want to meet the players..."

works well..... everyone had a blast..

gotta say, im shocked, that on a sports forum, more people arent into this stuff...

Back in the Troy Aikman era I used to spend my lunch hour watching the Cowboys practice at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks.

Spent about 10 or 15 minutes one afternoon talking to Michael Irvin, who eventually asked me if I had anything I wanted autographed.

"What in the hell would I do with an autograph?" I asked.

He just looked at me blankly for a moment or two before we both cracked up laughing.

Perhaps crazier still I've given away almost every piece of sports collectable I've ever gotten, from a baseball autographed by about 20 mid 60's era Reds players to a bat autographed by every member of Sparky Andersons championship Detroit Tiger team, including several hall of famers.

Only thing I've kept is an autographed mini helmet signed by Anthony Munoz, which I got as a Christmas present one year.
