  2. The worst NFL schedules No. 1: Pittsburgh Stealers What did the Stealers do to piss off the NFL? Those having championship dreams in Pittsburgh this year will need to temper their expectations after the slate dropped like a hammer on the organization. We all know the AFC North is a dog fight. It’s the league’s most competitive division, where any of the four teams could conceivably and convincingly win. That means balance is a razor’s edge, and an absolute sicko must have devised the final eight games of the Stealers’ schedule. Week 11: Baltimore Ravens Week 12: AT Cleveland Browns, on three day’s rest on Thursday Night Football Week 13: AT Cincinnati Bengals, coming off TNF Week 14: Cleveland Browns Week 15: AT Philadelphia Eagles Week 16: AT Baltimore Ravens Week 17: Kansas City Chiefs, on four day’s rest on Christmas Day Week 18: Cincinnati Bengals
  3. I guess. It’s all marketing in the NFL. Have some heretofore nondescript-looking guy from SE Ohio suddenly appear like a GQ killah. It might get there someday. Namath was the first runway model in the sport. Before then, the guy who won the most would likely be mistaken for a high school PE teacher

  15. Yes the opposite could happen. But also in this scenario if the Bengals lose by one point you lose the whole $100. Versus had you waited you would have at least hit that spread and got something back instead of nothing. If one wants to bet out into the future it is by far more efficient to use the actual futures bets. Because they pay out way more according to the odds. You're better off making $1700 in $5 futures bets on how many wins or loses they will have and so on. If you just hit a small handful of those bets it will most likely put you in the profit. When one bets into the future on single game lines the person is stacking the odds against themselves immensely without any significant reward for the risk
  16. Some article was just talking about how that's what he likes to run. You sure they've given up on it? All I know is that these high-priced free agent OL arrive with great fanfare only to have the worst seasons of their careers. If it was one guy I could write it off but when it happens so consistently it has to be a function of coaching & scheme. Something they're doing is negating their natural ability. It's a problem that's only being compounded by the team's refusal to confront it. They're talking about OBJr as this great player and leader of the OL after giving up more QB pressure than any other LT last season. There's a big disconnect between what they're saying and the results on the field. If it's not on the OL coach who is ultimately responsible? Where the buck stops is kind of a recurring question with this franchise.
  17. Frank Pollack's background was the wide zone scheme, and that's what the Bengals started out running when he arrived. But midway through the 22-23 season the Bengals sort of evolved gradually into a downhill gap scheme that seemed like a better fit for linemen who were huge but not particularly quick. So Carman already has some experience in both scheme styles. The Bengals OL has only gotten bigger with the additions of Trent Brown and Mims, so it seems likely they won't be going back to the wide zone style anytime soon.

  19. It'd be interesting to see how he fares outside of the patented wide zone scheme.
  20. They mean like the opposite of Sheisty. Like they found some dude at a cell phone kiosk to model their unis.
  21. As Bob pointed out, why not place the bets as close to kickoff as you can manage? Better value. That aside I support this becoming a cat thread.
  22. Go: of course I'll be happy to help you, as I'll likely be looking for tickets - our shared account did their draw and I'm only getting two of the games : Opener (NEP) and Closer (DEN). Anything in between, especially WAS or BAL, would be great. If it matters, 106 would be preferred so I can harass those sitting in my seats in 104. Also, some of this is self-inflicted, as I've invited Isobel and her hubby down from Nova Scotia and have given her my BAL tickets. You know her work, I figure it's about time she finally gets to a game.
