Things I'm told today....
From my "Bengals Insider":
On Carson:
Carson Palmer is now 8-9 weeks ahead of schedule. It now appears he will start the season as he is progressing rapidly. Team doctors are very encouraged that he has strengthened the leg to a point they feel is adequate. He now moves into a stretching and aerobic phase, where he will stretch the muscles more and build the endurance in the leg. The team originally felt that Carson wouldn't begin this phase until just prior to camp in July.
On Chris Henry:
Chris Henry's latest incident just validated the fact he will not be a Bengal for very long. In fact Chris started to drift away from the advice Marvin had given him less than three weeks ago and is back doing the things he shouldn't be doing. The continuance of his case in Florida is no big deal as it appears he will walk away from that incident with little if any punishment from the court. The recent DUI most likely will be reduced to a Reckless Operation per what I'm told by a team official. Even though he will skirt major legal trouble he will not be Bengal long as the decision has been made.
AJ Nicholson:
Once the truth comes out AJ will be released of all charges. The team will not take action against AJ and will welcome his return, but his contract will be designed with clauses to protect the team and ensure he chooses better people to associate with if he plans on being paid.
OL:
Now that Levi Jones' agent and the Bengal's have exchanged no less than five proposals I see hope that a deal will be done by camp. From what I have seen, the differences are not that far off that it will keep the deal from getting done. Eric Steinbach isn't any closer to signing and appears to be headed towards free agency in 2007. As for Willie Anderson the team will address Willie once they complete a deal for Levi. Willie Anderson deal wouldn't come until August or September at the earliest.
Players that have impressed:
One player who has stepped up to the challenge is wide receiver Antonio Chatman. His repoire with teammates and workmanship has impressed. Antonio will be a nice fit in this offense in 2006.
Tory James looks good. He's much more fit than he was in 2005 and his acceleration in the drop is very quick. Tory has taken the offseason to rededicate himself and has looked very impressive so far.

Henry taking off...but could open a spot for Brazell

Eric leaving...but Willie may be back.

But lets hope that its not as accurate as we think. Because i would like to see both henry and eric back.

thats just my opinion though.

Edit:

Didn't lance have a insider not to long ago that said that eric would be signed soon?

I don't think Eric's going anywhere..If they sign two of the three they can franchise the player that's not signed. As for Henry I know he's screwed up more than he should have so unless he nmakes a 360 degree turn and cleans up his act quickly he's gone for sure. I just really believe that the Bengals should keep him but he should be suspended for at least 1 season

I will be satisfied with whatever Marvin decides to do.. He's much closer to the situation than anyone else in this city, and I trust his judgement.

However, it would seem prudent to hold onto Henry until there is a resolution to his legal problems. Then put him on the block and see what you can get for him. There's no reason to just give him to someone else without at least trying to get something for him except a grievance filed from the NFLPA.

I doubt we cut him anytime soon.

Yes good point...his blog did say that. I do not believe that the Bengals will let any of these three go..I believe the O-Line stays intact except for thr retirement of Braham. If we win the Super Bowl Braham retires..If not he may play another season..But Big Willie, Levi and Eric I believe will be back...just my gut feeling...

besides signing willie over eric, i have been saying all of this stuff... the aj situation seems overblown, the henry situation seems underblown, and they keep screaming about carson being extremely ahead of schedule...

good news about tori looking good... i guess he doesn't want to lose his job to a rookie :D

If Marvin can't cut on off-field issues..then where is Henry going?

Henry can't even really practice right now...its hard to be seeing him go unless he fails a physical on his knee or something. He was about the best rookie last year...would be a big mistake to see him go..

its hard to get signings right, when the players don't even know if they are signing for sure or not... maybe he was close then, and just hasn't moved any closer since... anyways, take all of the "inside" reports w/ a grain of salt, b/c even the bengals management doesn't know who they will sign for sure... they probably have a good idea who they want to sign though... i doubt they will let that info get too far from their vest though, so the player doesn't get any extra incentive to ask for more...

I think I do remember that.I don't follow Lance that much to know how accurate he is most of the time, but he as much as said Arrington was signed and was dead wrong on another big rumor that Own pointed out at the time.Personally ,I don't believe much of what he says now.

I doubt they will tag Eric. O-linemen are grouped together for the sake of Tag salaries, that's why you hardly ever see anyone tagged that is not a left tackle. Tagging Eric means paying him like a top 5 or 10 LT.

I have serious doubts about Lance's insider as well. This is the same guy that said we were close to signing not only Eric, but LaVarr as well.

Marvin has been quoted at least twice recently that signing all three would be (virtually) impossible. There might've been a time where he thought that Jones or Steinbach might take a hometown discount, which might free up enough money for Big Willie, but it appears Lewis has already thrown in the towel on that dream. I still believe that it will be Jones and Steinbach who extend their contracts, but if Steinbach doesn't accept the offer then Willie may be the beneficiary.
