Rudi's stats

Recommended Posts
neither can rudi, thats why watson does.... soooo that doesnt add up.
Actually, it does.

If Dorsey can pass block, he's the 3rd down back, and Watson starts. Rudi rides his little bike on the sidelines where he belongs.

or you would just rotate carries between watson and dorsey like they did when rudi was down and watson could have 3rd down duty.. like we did for several games already this year..
Rudi: 93 car, 243 yards, 2.6 ypc, 0 TDs
Kenny: 98 car, 436 yards, 4.4 ypc, 4 TDs

I'm talking about who is the better back RIGHT NOW, who should be getting the bulk of the carries next week, as they are right now - injuries and all.
rudi gets the start again... and again... he is just the better player.

Watson got 130 of those yards against the 31st ranked run
Defense in the NFL. He also got 3 of his 4 TDs against
that same 31st ranked rush Defense.

He averaged 2.7 ypc today against the Ravens.

Kenny Watson back to back weeks, 13 carries-35 yards
WTF ?

Did you read that as you typed it ?

Rudi missed 3 entire games. He had 4 carries in another.
And 11 carries in another. Of course he isn`t going to have
a season as good as Parker has had, he has missed no games,
and hasn`t been injured.

Plus the few games Rudi started at the beginning of the season,
the O-line was playing musical chairs.

As far as the stats I posted in the other post, they both played the
Ravens the past 2 weeks. And the Ravens shut both running games down.
It is a resonable comparison.

Plus the Ravens are leading the NFL in run Defense. They allow
73.7 rushing yards per game, and an average of 2.7 ypc.
whether you like it or not.
The only hole in your argument is Rudi started his decline last year.

The Bengals played 9 games against the top
tier rushing Defenses last year, and the only O-linemen to
play every game, is now a Cleveland Brown.

Ravens (2 games) were ranked #2 against the run last season,
Stealers (2 games) were ranked #3, Patriots #5, Chargers #7,
Falcons #9, Panthers #11 and the Broncos were #12.

How are playing good defenses good excuses...every team and running back has to go up against good defenses.

Adrian Peterson is going up against great rushing defenses and producing behind a very mediocre line....and with very little support from a passing game.

and most of them dont have good games. and most teams dont play that many top 12-13 run defenses...

it was a big conversation piece last year that we couldnt run block against the good run d we faced.. needed o lnie stability, stunts were hurting inexperienced starters, etc..

It is amazing to me how fans of the Bengals are calling Rudi a piece of shit, and want him cut tomorrow, and etc. It's amazing how quickly some forget what he did for this team, he allowed us to get rid of a cancer, and provided some of the most exciting football this city has seen in years back in 03.

I've never been a fan, but many here have said Rudi Rudi Rudi countless times, and now want BJ to sit up in the 300 section with a sniper rifle.

I would be surprised if TJ had an inclination to re-sign. He is going to want a payday that we will not give him. Still...You never know if they upped the ante for the last two years of his contract.

I agree on Landon and Stacey...They are the only FAs worth keeping, unless they want to throw Watson another bone for 2008 (which I could understand).
Willie Parker rushed 23 times for 42 yards against the Ravens last week.
That`s an average of 1.8 ypc.

The Stealers as a team rushed 39 times for 90 yards.
And averaged 2.3 ypc against the Ravens last week.
Very good point...It is just tough to watch a team have so much trouble running the ball. Still...To their credit, they did keep trying in order to keep the Ravens D as honest as possible.

I believe he is averaging 6.6 YPC with zero help from a passing game...against mostly 8 man fronts.

Rudi is running against mostly 7 man fronts because teams are playing 2 deep zone so they can double our wideouts.

Kenny Watson is running behind the same offensive line with much better results...and honestly I don't think Kenny Watson is the answer either.

Rudi didn`t just face good defenses. He faces some of the top RUSHING defenses.

And not every RB loses his starting Center for 14 games,
his starting LT for 10 games, his starting RG for 3 games
and his starting RT for 1 game. While facing some of
the top RUSHING Defenses in the NFL.

LT faced the Raiders (2 games) that were ranked 25th against the
run, Chiefs (2 games) that were ranked #18, the Titans #30,
Seahawks #22, Rams #31 Browns #29, Bills #28 and 49er`s #19,
in 2006. That`s 10 games against Rush Defenses ranked 18th or lower.
When he played against the Stealers and Ravens last season,
he gained 98 yards (Ravens) and 36 yards (Stealers) those were the only top 10
Rushing Defenses he faced in 2006.

The point I am getting at is that blaming the offensive line(the same offensive line that Kenny Watson is running behind) and the defenses we face is a crock of crap. If we want to be a top team then we have to beat these teams. Right now, Rudi is not a good enough running back to beat these teams.

You mean that same Offensive line that Kenny Watson had
a 2.7 ypc average behind today ?

2 of our wins has been with Rudi starting. Both of them
came against the #1 run Defense in the NFL.
Also, Rudi did more than enough to get a win against
the Browns. Our Defense lost that one.
The other win came with Kenny Watson starting against
the 31st ranked run Defense in the NFL.
