Jason
Thank God Art Modell fired Paul Brown and he founded the Bengals. Or many of us would be fans of that circus.
T-Dub
What in the.. Let them hire the HC, then fire them? How long before the league steps in like MLB with McCourt & the Dodgers and puts an end to this mess?
MichaelWeston
What in the.. Let them hire the HC, then fire them? How long before the league steps in like MLB with McCourt & the Dodgers and puts an end to this mess? I was thinking the same thing. Although, I assume the guy they hired as GM helped to hire the coach because he was there during the process.
Randle P McMurphy
Fire GM and Pres and name assistant pres GM. Actually the President is still there. Alec Scheiner. Joe Banner was CEO and Mike Lombardi GM. Farmer was assistant GM and was promoted to GM. But still.....that organization is a train wreck. I watched some of the press conference but was so busy laughing I missed some parts of it! Farmer was present during the hiring of the new HC Pettine but he stated he had no authority in the hiring. Both Haslam and Farmer were asked by a reporter, (can't recall the guys name) what they thought about the "outside" perception that the Browns organization is a mess!! Of course they both denied that the Front Office situation wasn't a mess but a great opportunity. There were a couple of other points/questions brought up that were pretty funny but I can't recall exactly what they were. I think it might have been something about the scouts. Something along the lines that the new GM Farmer didn't hire any of them but with the Combine and Free Agency being so close he'd basically be stuck with these guys for now. Something along those lines. Something isn't right with that whole situation though. Still doesn't seem to be clear if Banner was fired or decided to step down as CEO. The Browns website says he's stepping down in the next 2 months. Also says that Mike Lombardi is departing the organization so I would guess he pretty much got fired. Just recently Farmer was supposedly offered the GM job in Miami but turned it down. Something is fishy there. He said in the press conference today that he had no idea he would be given the GM job in Cleveland and said he turned it down because it wasn't the right time or situation. Something to that effect. I find that hard to believe that he'd turn down that job WITHOUT knowing beforehand that something was coming up in Cleveland. If it wasn't the right time or situation in Miami just a week or 2 ago, how is it the right time in Cleveland so soon? Maybe it's just me but something doesn't jive there. JBandJoeyV
says the guy who is ignoring 2011 because 4-2 doesn't sell his point as well as 2-2 Ha no kidding. Plus since when does "us" refer to the dalton led bengals vs the Palmer led bengals. I thought it was still the cincinnati bengals who I refer to as "us". Just goes to show the difference between go and a real fan.
