July 24, 20231 yr Author comment_1709603 why is that your reaction? Seems to me the best way for this to get done is both parties to talk outside of using the press. No indication of any issues that I see from any quotes today.

July 24, 20231 yr comment_1709608 Everyone knows Burrow's deal will get done. He has more leverage than any player in NFL history (all things considered). He can basically fill in his number. But with a quarter or half billion dollar deal, its going to take some time to get the wording right. Katie is going to use those Dartmouth math skills she's so good at.

July 24, 20231 yr comment_1709642 I know the Bengals front office has mandated no one talking about the Burrow extension, but I found this Mike Brown quote interesting. Brown is in his late 80s and in the past he's been known to unintentionally reveal things in a way that Tobin or Taylor never would. He just isn't quite as cautious with how he phrases things sometimes. Is he saying that they may be close to a deal with Burrow in this quote below with the key sentence capitalized? I dunno myself. I could just be seeing things I want to see. It's an ambitious 88th year. The Bengals are in the throes of negotiating two lifetime deals, an extension for Burrow and one another stadium lease with Hamilton County. The heavy lifting for both is done by his daughter, Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn, but Brown is involved enough to quietly abstain from commenting on both. "I have bound myself not to talk about Joe's contract. I don't think it's helpful for the negotiations," Brown said. "The other side has made the same commitment and they have not broken it. THAT ONE COMES CLOSE. I could answer that and they might think that is talking about the negotiation so I'm going to beg off."
