  1. They're adding language that protects against their own poor judgement. They want a warranty, and warranties come with money up front. This isn't a "Code of Conduct", this is a multi-million dollar contract. And absolutely no one knows what the actual language is, and if other NFL teams use it. Period. If you say you do, you're delusional. All we have is conflicting media reports. And exactly what has Stewart done to warrant this new language? You expect him to accept these new terms when he has been a model citizen all his life? Why do you suddenly need to protect yourself from bad behavior with this kid? What are you accusing him of? What the fuck angle could you possibly be taking here? Because they didn't have this language in Burton's contract? So... A guy with no concerns should accept a potential multi-million dollar loss that a third round pick wasn't subject to last year. Nice. All Stewart has to do is accept it... And all Katie, or whatever inbred cousin is negotiating this particular deal, has to do is drop it. And it's a lose lose for both sides. And I don't want the Bengals to lose. So, it seems that losing out on valuable camp time with a 1st round pick so you might be able to claw back the money from an insignificant rookie deal... What... Maybe $4M per year in a league with a $300M cap? What are you more upset about... Jermaine Burton being a waste of a 3rd round pick, or him being a waste of a $1.3m cap hit? If Shemar Stewart gets caught at a Diddy party, are you going to be fine with it because we have a little more cap space? It'll be slim solace for a team that blew a first round pick during Joe's window. You showed enough faith in the guy to take him in the first round... Now it's cold feet time? NOW you're not sure and need a little extra insurance? Easier than hiring scouts I guess. People say Mims didn't sign until July 22nd. And Trent Brown started the early games, played badly, and we lost two in a row to start the season. Like... How do the people on this board not see the glaring A -> B correlation here? This this constant rinse, lather, repeat of contract disputes with team cornerstones and draft picks leads to slow starts and wasted potential? So... YOU'RE cheering for Katie to get a little guarantee against the guy SHE picked being a shit head instead of just signing the guy and getting him ready?? I mean, it seems like there's a good contingent here that is all "old man yells at sky" about what NFL players make now. "Why, back in my day guys played for a sock full of nickels and you could fill up yer tank for $5. Now they are all greedy pigs who actually want a piece of those Billion dollar TV deals that have doubled the value of Mike and Katie's franchise over 20 years. The nerve! Buncha young douchey kids as their agents - they wouldn't last one day down at the mill I tells ya! Heck, if I was Shemar Stewart I would pay them to play just out of gratitude." Get a grip Grandpa. This isn't 1988 and a $37M salary cap anymore. And Amazon doesn't pay a Billion dollars to watch Katie balance her checkbook on Sundays. You keep telling us what guys are worth, and you keep being wrong. No way JJ Watt is worth that much... And the market keeps "overpaying" these guys while you talk about bread being a nickel when you were a kid. But tell me again what you think is "fair". Take them eggs on up to the counter and tell them you're only willing to pay the "fair" price in your head and see how many omlettes you make. Only a damn commie would charge more than $3 a dozen! At the end of the day, I want the Bengals to succeed. And having a pissing contest with your first round pick - to my mind - is counterproductive to that goal. And again... It's a lose lose. Shemar Stewart being 1% less ready to play football on Week One is bad for both him and the Bengals. He could just accept it, but they could also just drop it. Have the Bengals NEEDED this for past first rounders? No. Why now? Just freaking sign the guy. And if you really CAN'T sign the guy without some guarantees... Do a better job scouting and get your picks in camp on time. Damn. If Shemar Stewart does have to be cut in year one and his guarantees voided... Getting back $4M in cap space for a team that is constantly at least $10M under the cap... I mean... C'mon. Yay. We aren't paying a first round pick who had a shorter career than Akili Smith. All is well. But every day that passes we increase the chances that he starts slow, doesn't give us the effort... At a position we have a dire need at right now.
  2. It was reported pre draft that his agent was a dick and had an aggressive style with teams for workouts. So I would guess he's trying to make a name for himself as the next Jerry McGuire / Mulugheta. But even with all that said and even if his Jersey Shore sleeze ball agents suck ass, why the fuck are the Bengals giving them ammunition by changing the language? Just delay this precedent until next year at this point. It's not a hill worth dying on.
  3. Shortly after the contract dispute opened up i looked up the agency, LAA, Loyalty Above All, aside from being a stupid fucking name, it appears to be full of a circle of douchebags with little to no experience, with profiles using overloaded language like "help clients JK Dobbins and _____ create a brand and "online shopping malls for autographs" online shopping malls...... so a shopify store for $29.99? he said online shopping malls. anyway.. They have made the list of footbal lclients harder to get to on the site, making none of the links to categories bring up the lists (unless its my browser at work) I could get to them earlier, but google had my back. Dalvin Cook - Not in the NFL James Cook - On Rookie deal, publicly demanding $15mil per year, team told him we arent negotiation extensions right now. Franchise tag is only $13.2 JK Dobbins - Injury riddled career, 3rd team in 3 years, on a prove it 2mil deal. after having 7 mil previous year and doing well... odd? Darrelle Revis - hasnt been in the league for 6 years. possibly a merchandising only deal with with fanatics? Derion kendrick - dunno who this is - a 6th round pick on a 1 year only deal. Sam Kamara - UDFA for bears and now browns, did have 15 combined tackles last year.. so theres that. Ramel Keyton - an UDFA who isnt in the league, waived Sept 29th of his rookie year with 1 catch, not in the league Kaeris jackson - UDFA no longer in the league wavied by texans after UDFA signing O'Cyrus Torrence - A real player 2nd round pick, still on bills. on rookie deal. Josh Gordon - lol yes that one.. hasnt played in many years last deal with 100k with titans. Jack Conley - UDFA for Pats, rookie, at least still in the league, $840k deal Kris Mitchell - Undrafted, never been on a team. Dayton Wade - Undrafted WR, Ravens, likely cut in camp. Kaden Prather - 7th round WR for bills, rookie Jacolby George - Undreafted WR for Panthers likely cut in camp Frank Gore = lolololol, hasnt played in 5 years, looks like an autographs deal Jon Garvin - 7th rounder linebacker rookie, teams or cut player Malik Rutherford - undreafted, never in the nfl or NIL only dealings Jamorie Flagg - never in league NIL dealings it seems Keyone Jenkins - NIL only dealings still in college Rara Thomas - NIL dealings went from Miss St to george to Troy.. constant downgrade of schools Mandrell Desir - Freshman in college NIL dealings Darryll Desir - NIL Only dealings Malachi Toney - NIL college freshman Lawayne McCoy - NIL only college sophmore Dan Villari - NIL only QB turned TE for syracuse Bear Alexander - NIL only, jr at oregon 3rd school in 3 years. some cool names.. that dont play anymore. basically has 6 clients who are real nfl players mostly. counting two 7th rounders who arent likely to be on rosters in a few months. So James Cook, JK Dobbins, and Shamar Stewert. an injury flyer player, Shamar and Cook with one good season and demandin to be the 3rd highest paid RB in the league. this is whats guiding Shamar stewert. lol Born and raised in Suffern, NY, Zac started his first business at 18; a successful nightlife and event planning company that handled everything from birthday parties to Fortune 500 corporate events. He used this money to pay for school at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor where he received his undergraduate degree in Sport Management as well as at the Zicklin School of Business – Baruch College where he received his Master’s in Marketing. Zac has been a certified NFLPA contract advisor since 2016, negotiating over $100 Million in contracts before his 30th birthday. He formed LAA on the principle of what has driven his success to date; LOYALTY to those that support and believe in him. threw parties, "negotiated" 100 mil in contracts, which is all rookie deals and the 70 mil deal for which he saw 26million of before being cut 2 seasons later. this guy has virtually no experience, no clients, and is giving terrible advice to get his clients name in headlines.. but you know.. the bengals are cheap or whatever (in a set dollar deal). using his client to get media attention for himself, calling all podcasters and yelling at them for saying he is making stupid moves. but mike brown or whatever....
  4. Fulcher should have gone in over Lapham in my opinion. I think Lapham's jacket was an issue of repaying a "faithful soldier" post career, more than for his time as a player.
  5. I crack on the front office as much as anyone here, but Shemar Stewart came out of college with absolutely no character concerns. He was known at Texas A&M as a guy who loved to practice, lived in the gym lifting weights (body is like solid granite). In the lead up to the draft he impressed in interviews with his football knowledge, seemed fully engaged all of the time. Pretty much the anti-Shedeur Sanders. So has something changed since he got drafted? Maybe he should have chosen his representation a little better, maybe he has gotten bad advice since being drafted, etc. But there is zero reason to think Stewart is a character concern.
  6. Too many combinations. The old retro jerseys prove that if a uniform is done right it only needs 2 versions: a home and an away. Nobody would look at the Broncos 'orange crush' uniforms or the undefeated Dolphins and think "you know what this really needs is a version in black." All of these alternate versions are buckets of water in a leaky ship, trying to deflect from the fact that many teams have ruined their uniforms from 40 years ago.
  7. Did Stewart change agents only after the Bengals decided to draft him with the 17th overall pick? I think the answer is a big fat NO.
  8. I would call that an organization-wide issue, despite all the excuses. Like the opener "oh we didn't know which WR to gameplan around." Yeah, that definitely sucked, but it didn't happen without reason. Decisions made at the very top of the franchise led them there. It's ok to say "we let that drag on too long, we'll learn from that mistake" but instead it seems like it's always some new form of prevarication. Do they really think they're crushing it on every level & just victims of bad luck? Does anyone?
  9. @BlackJesus is really asking if Joe's jockstrap was left by the locker so he could steal it?
  10. Objectively, Trey is a 28-32 million dollar player per year. If other teams without star QB contacts want to overpay for their edge rushers fine, but the Bengals can't devote that amount of resources to one DE considering their commitment and focus on the offense. The Squeelers usually spend like 70% of their cap on defense, and it gets them 10-7 every year and a first round exit (since no firepower to score). The Bengals in contrast are spending on offense with the hope of a Lombardi.
  11. Every season, as Sundays roll around, fans across the globe proudly rep their team’s colors. From the timeless, classic designs of historic franchises to the sleek, modern looks defining today’s game, the NFL boasts one of the most diverse and vibrant style palettes in all of sports. With several teams -- including the New Orleans Saints -- debuting fresh threads this season, there’s no better time to break down the aesthetics of the league. Over the past few years, teams around the league have unveiled a variety of eye‑popping additions to their wardrobes. Among the most notable are Cincinnati’s sleek “Snow Bengal” look, the Los Angeles Chargers’ iconic powder blues, and Tampa Bay’s nostalgic “Creamsicle” throwbacks. In this piece, we’ll be counting down and ranking every team’s uniform combinations — from the least impressive looks to the most iconic fits on the field. Let’s count them down -- from the least impressive looks to the most lively fits on the field: 32. 12. Lost is cooking with hot grease 🍳 🔥
  13. Should the NFL have a throwback weekend where all the teams were throwbacks. Or maybe an originals weekend where they all wear their original uniforms.
  14. I think those clowns were on the recent Netflix doc "Trainwreck: Woodstock 1999" sliding through shit outside the overflowing port-a-poopers.
  15. They're majestic. The world is healing itself.
  16. Paying top dollar for Pro Bowl guards....how laughable is that..the Chiefs will continue to go nowhere.
  17. A look at the bond between the Burrow and Chase families 💛 💜 / 🧡 🖤 AQOEaTQzjiIEi5sIY5Xnjq8Cosn7z0LlMtPkBzWVhyQwkKuwWLunj8QNeA92TpQ4DKPqRUUSUZHHxqQNf7dbIpNAea7ViJuSmdTWy2L4vCiSHg.mp4
  18. NFL Network had their top 10 games of the 2024 season yesterday. Game 1 vs Ravens was 5th and game 2 vs them was third best game of the season.
  19. Starting to wonder what a contract is even for at this point
  20. That zebra is using the Mahomes method of sizing helmets.
  21. 2 points
Guess some fans have just gotten used to 0-2 starts at this point. No big deal...unless you want to make the playoffs. But hey, maybe just barely missing the playoffs is also expected at this point.
  22. Unstoppable anticipation 🐯 YouCut_20250713_182650295.mp4
  23. alot of teams have moved to the white uni alternatives after seeing how clean the Bengals Icy white looks game recognize game
  24. I can see the Browns picking up Justin Tucker on the 11th week of the season when his suspension is up. No 🥷
  25. ... I can see he's fitting right in with the Cleveland rapist / abuser team culture. #MistakeOnTheLake 💩
  26. Those annual 0-2 starts are the main reason for the 9-8 record.
  27. Finally watched the entire thing. I've always kinda liked Jared Goff, and his story was amazing. Really impressed by the Lion's coaching staff and how they welcomed him into the fold. And I could have gone for at least 10 more minutes of his wife in a Bikini. Damn girl! If those puppies are for sale, I'll take the one with the lil' pink nose. Kirk Cousins seems like a really nice guy, but goddamn is he BORING. Total "Basic Bitch" energy. Kinda a-hole who likes Celine Dion and Coldplay. Joe Burrow might be going through a real life "Big". When they talk to him, it was like a 12 year old made a wish with a Genie to be the best QB in the league. As far as the rest... I felt like there was a lot of context missing about what was going on around them. Like we were looking at QB performance in a bubble. They only briefly mention the Lions missing their entire front 7 on defense. I liked Cousins' communication with his coaches. Hated Joe's. Goff was in the middle. Didn't really feel that same two way lane of conversation with Joe and his coaches. Maybe it just wasn't shown. In a broader sense... I wanted Joe to be a lot more vocal. Long before Episode 6. Joe's Mom was Terri Garr. Jamarr Chase looks exactly like his Dad. I don't think you can understate just how good Jamarr is, and how much those two guys being able to bring their existing chemistry to the league has helped them both achieve great things. I loved the "I didn't do shit" exchange. I also really enjoyed them showing Cousins struggling with a new playbook. Goes to show that even 13 year vets can struggle picking that stuff up and just how slim the margins are.
  28. 12 days and 3 guys still don't have contracts (or 2 + 1 guy telling us he wont play on his current one.)
  29. nothing worse to get signed honestly.. especially the mini. the stripes are THICK ass stickers.. so EVERY paint pen, marker, everything catches it and fucked up the auto. even on the big ones people often cut a stripe or sign small as hell in between.. terrible.. TERRIBLE.
  30. At least 5 times a year I just randomly get angry at the thought that the Dolphins, Broncos, and Bucs don't permanently switch back to their retro helmets and uniforms. They ruined perfection for modernist trash. 😡
  31. 1 point
Clipse album dropped today, - Let God Sort Em Out. its very good.
  32. Yeah. That plus Lou equals a 9-8 record? If y'all say so... Guess we'll see
  33. Add the Falcons, Seahawks, Rams, Jags, and to a lesser extent the Cardinals. Literally every single one of these teams have throwbacks used on a limited basis or mothballed that are WAY better than what they wear on the regular.
  34. I agree wholeheartedly and I do hope he does
  35. Interesting when Mahomes needed a 5th down do-over from Urkel to beat him in the playoffs and Burrow is still up 3-2 overall.
  36. He was and is the best tackle from the 2024 draft
  37. Chase truly is a specimen
