Whats it like living in Ohio/cincinnati

Recommended Posts

Well I figured out what I'm going to do about college. I can't afford it now so I'm going to keep working where I'm at now for the next year and 90% of my income. My parents are going to help save too. Worst case scenario, I'll have about 5500 saved a year from now. Best case scenario is anywhere from 10,000 - 13,000 saved. Then I'm going to go to community college for 2 years starting next year and get an associates degree in criminal justice. I'll be able to afford it since the tuition and books and fees for 2 years will cost about 6500-7000 max. Then I'll have the option of going to a 4 year school for 2 more years to get a bachelors degree, or go into entry level law enforcement position. Or I could go into a police academy and then obviously become a police officer. That's the one I'm leaning toward because it will cost the least amount and I wont have loans to pay back. Also I've always been interested in law enforcement anyways (I wanted to become a lawyer but not being able to afford college at this point means that it'll be really hard to get that far, with law school being hard to get into and very expensive). And I've done a lot of research on the steps needed to become a police officer. Plus I took a criminal law class in high school this past year and learned a lot about law, and what police academy is like and whatnot.

But looking around online, I found that ohio seems to have a lot of affordable homes and the cost of living there seems less expensive than most states. I even looked at what houses are on the market now and how much they're going for. (I'm planning for the future, about 3 years from now and where I might want to live and work)

As far as becoming a police officer, I'm not sure how certain things work. If I went to a police academy where I live now or even in NYC, would I be able to move to another state, like Ohio, and work there? Or would I have to go to a police academy affiliated with that specific city in order to work there?

Obviously since I'm a bengals fan I'd love to live in cincinnati or a suburb near it, so I wanted to know what is it like living there? What do you like or not like about it? And does anyone know anything about how I would go about working as a police officer in one of the cities there?

I know everyone on here doesnt live in ohio but it seems like a good amount do so that's why I asked...

get a Bachelors in Sociology... then go to law school, pass the bar and become a lawyer.

or you could ask yourself the million dollar question...

"what would i do if i was so rich...that i didn't have to work, and only did what I loved to do."

now think on that.......if it's bang slits, and crush crush the yeyo...think " HOW CAN I SERVE OTHER PEOPLE, and enjoy doing it?" If it's still banging slits and crushing yey you should be a porn star.

or your could go to chaosastrology.com then click on FREE NATAL CHARTS and input the information requested, YOU MUST KNOW THE EXACT TIME OF BIRTH AND WHAT CITY, or more specifically LAT AND LONG. If you don't know exact time, and place don't waste your time...it may be close if you don't know the information, but i would suggest you find out.

Baby books...birth certificate...etc...

Copy and Paste the chart into your favorite word processor. Print, then read it.

This will give you a good view into the self image, if needed, and this kind of information can serve as a great springboard to formulate a plan.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO REPETITION IN THE CHART!!!!!!!

Are you a lawyer? If not, don't give this advice out lightly. If you are, give me a bloomin' job. :D

I would hope that any and all advice given by yours truly wouldn't be taken out of context.

and no, i'm not a lawyer, although Libras would make fine lawyers...i personally wouldn't be able to put up with the charade. I'll keep you in mind Mr. Actium...i'm going to need a very fine Intelecual Property lawyer in the future...are you interested?

that said doesn't it always boil down to "how we look at things"...you see, my intent counsel, was only to expand possibility for not only the color changing cliqer, but for every light that may stumble upon the post.\

Some wise man told me that you can make a killing in business law.

it makes sense to me...so I pass it on.

You can do well in law, but honestly a lot of people don't. It's a numbers game like anything else. And those who do really well work so hard it's not really worth it.

I would really advise against the law--unless the person has already tried something else after college and knows law is what he wants to do--I went to law school right after college. Huge mistake.

As for the other thing, I am only licensed to practice in Texas, and I don't have a technical background, which is usually required for patent law. You might have to look for local counsel--although depending on how complex it is, you might want to see what you can do on your own. Lawyers can be pricey.

Oh, and CCC, to answer your question, living in Ohio is...different. I grew up there and am very nostalgic but it might take some getting used to. But it is a good place to live. I lived in the Cleveland area for a while (BOOOO), and went to school in Springfield, which is not too far from dayton and the Nati. I've visited the Nati a lot and enjoyed it and have given thought to moving there at some point.

Learn to say pop and how to play Euchre and you'll get along famously.
The Rochester area is not much different than Ohio one bit. As most people here in New York say, "Anything west of Albany is Ohio."
Thats good I guess since it would probably seem familiar. What's there do in the cincinnati and the suburbs? Do they got good restaurants?
I sure as heck wouldn't move to Ohio due to the fact that you are a Bengals fan...

I live in Ohio because that's where my family is. If my family moved out of state, so would I.
No that wouldnt be the main reason. It just seemed like a nice place to live and the cost of living seems more affordable there based on some research I did. Being a bengals fan is like a bonus incentive. Do you hate it or something?

the lower standards just makes it easier for non military personal to get a job. seeing that he is only 17, i find it hard to belive he has any major background problems

well for most states, you have to have either a 2 year degree or 2 years military service to enter in there police academy.
