Obama thinks there are 57 states and that Iran is a tiny country.

Biden thinks that Roosevelt was president when the Great Depression hit, and that he went on TV to talk about it, even though only prototypes existed at the time.

But those were just "lovable gaffes" because they're the smartest people in the world and thank God they were elected to save us all from ourselves.

Nah, I don't see a double standard here at all.
yea, cause the right side here is so even keel and balanced in their opinions. :rabbitwithapancakeonitshead:

hmmm... brightest candidate to run for public office in years makes lone obvious gaffe after months on the trail during a 20 hour day campaigning vs. uneducated self admitted podunk hick from the meth capital of alaska repeatedly fucks up in epic proportions then word leaks after the race that she was even dumber than she let on. not exactly a double standard, hell, its not even comparable. try as you might to simplify the circumstances the obama vs palin gaffe-off wasnt even close

also biden and mccain are gaffe-a-minute candidates whose ages, im afraid, have slowly crept up on them, which is why their gaffesare never discussed.

In that election-themed Mortal Kombat online game that was linked on here a while back, Biden's 'special power' was his 'foot-in-mouth' attack.

And McCain's gaffes are great too. Although I think him ripping on Western PA is more of a Freudian slip than a simple gaffe:

Well, internet rumors say that this was actually in regards to the 57 Islamic states of the OIC. Snopes.com says it is just a misstatement thinking he meant 47 continental states in the U.S. Of course we have all mistaken how many states our in the country that he wants to lead.

There are 48 states in the continental US last time I checked. Internet rumors: credibility = zero.

Let's just keep in mind that these things that were said about Palin came from an "anonymous" source who doesn't have the guts to show his/her face and have the story scrutinized. Credibility = zero.

I dunno... I'm still trying to figure out what Clinton's definition of "is" is.

I said 47 because he had only been to 47 states and needed to visit one more. Alaska and Hawaii just aren't important for the national scene apparantly (I understand why). Anyway, that is why he said 57 instead of 47 with one to go. Not that it is important. Just thought I'd interject an opposing view to the statement, which would be fairly easy to confirm or deny if some one really spent the time. Personally, I think it time for all this to end. What is the point of bashing Palin, except for those who may just be scared of her politics. What it is time for is that this country get behind their elected leaders and for everyone to work together to solve our problems. If we don't, perhaps we deserve to collapse under the weight of those problems.

MSNBC Retracts False Palin Story; Others Duped
Network runs correction on air after reporting an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about Sarah Palin, information stemming from a hoax.

NEW YORK -- MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.

David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a FOX News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.

Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The Eisenstadt claim had mistakenly been delivered to Shuster by a producer and was used in a political discussion Monday afternoon, MSNBC said.

"The story was not properly vetted and should not have made air," said Jeremy Gaines, network spokesman. "We recognized the error almost immediately and ran a correction on air within minutes."

Gaines told the Times that someone in the network's newsroom had presumed the information solid because it was passed along in an e-mail from a colleague.

The hoax was limited to the identity of the source in the story about Palin -- not the FOX News story itself. While Palin has denied that she mistook Africa for a country, the veracity of that report was not put in question by the revelation that Eisenstadt is a phony.

Eisenstadt's "work" had been quoted and debunked before. The Huffington Post said it had cited Eisenstadt in July on a story regarding the Hilton family and McCain.

Among the other victims were political blogs for the Los Angeles Times and The New Republic, each of which referenced false material from Eisenstadt's blog.

And in July, Jonathan Stein of Mother Jones magazine blogged an item about Eisenstadt speaking on Iraqi television about a casino in Baghdad's "Green Zone."

Stein later realized he'd been had.

"Kudos to the inventor of this whole thing," Stein wrote. "My only consolation is that if I had as much time on my hands as he clearly does, I probably would have figured this out and saved myself a fair amount of embarrassment."

The falsely reported story was not that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent, as was reported by Fox News. The correction was to a story MSNBC ran on the identity of the aide who leaked this story. Her duncehood is not brought into doubt by this correction.

I could make that same judgment about you from the spelling in your posts.

All her interviews proved was that she's not a very good bullshitter like most politicians. A skill she will learn in time, I'm sure.

Your telling me that I am supposed to naively believe that a story written by a fake person is somehow supposed to be true?

The difference being that I am posting informally on a message board, she was being vetted as VP and should have been more prepared by her handlers.

Maybe, but that speaks more toward the competency of her "handlers" than Palin's intellect. Just because she talks with an accent and can't answer two of hundreds of questions tossed her way with the same political double-talk and non-answers that an experienced Washingtonian politician would, doesn't mean she's stupid.

Should I repeat that twice more? or did you get it the first time? :ninja:
