Snyder is a crass and classless douchebag new-money type who's ego and greed know no boundaries. And I'd rather have a conservative owner than one that throws money all willy-nilly in a futile attempt to placate his own ego rather than benefit the team he owns in any meaningful way. Since Snyder took over the redskins are 86-106 with 3 playoff appearances (all wild card) and one playoff win. In the same time the Bengals are 76-115-1 with 2 division championships and 0 playoff wins. So snyder, spending gobs of money every year as owner, has gotten himself 1 playoff win and an less than 1 more win per season than Mike Brown has, who has spent much less money. If Dan Snyder wants to spend $100 MM of mostly his own money to sign Haynesworth, than good for him. Snyder is an annoying prick, but he's considerably better than Mike Brown. They've both sucked about exqually over the last 12 years, despite one trying to spend as much money he can get away with. Snyder's proof positive that if you suck at running a football team, you suck at running a football team, no matter how much money you try and throw at it. Oh, and they are in a more competitive division. The AFCN has had the browns who've been bad almost every year. the NFCE has had good Eagles, Giants and cowboys team over the last decade. The reason is that Snyder wants to win and is willing to try anything and everything to succeed.
