Just awesome. I think we can't finish the night in 1st no matter what though. Pit win gets them to 7-2, Bal win gives them the tie breaker because of Div record I believe. Don't matter 5-1 in conference, 1-0 in division we control our destiny halfway through the season...that is just awesome.

Well if they tie I think that would make us first alone.

6-2 is better then 6-2-1 right?

If Baltimore beats Pittsburgh, we're still #1.

6-2 Cincinnati
6-2 Baltimore
6-3 Pittsburgh

Tiebreakers:
1. Head-to-head - does not apply (we haven't played yet)
2. Division winning percentage - tied (1-0 = 2-0 = 1.000)
3. Common opponents winning percentage - Cincinnati (5-1 .833 > 5-2 .714)

The Bengals will be #1 with a Ravens win, a Ravens-Steelers tie, or if the world comes to an end in the next 90 minutes.

Dalton's 12 TD passing is the most through 8 games for a rookie since the merger. Seeing how the offense will start to open up more as the season goes on, as long as he can keep performing at the same level there's a solid chance he could have more passing TDs than any rookie in NFL history. Think about that for a second.

BTW - With Oakland losing (again), they now have a 4-4 record and are slotted to pick in the 13-17 range in the 2011 draft. There are 6 4-4 teams, but San Diego is kicked out because they would win the West and make the playoffs, bumping them into the 21-32 range for playoff-bound teams.

Our 6-2 record is tied for 3rd best in the league, behind only GB and SF. We would tentatively pick in the 27-30 range, pending the playoff results.

So by ESPN's Power Rankings, we should be up to #19?

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs

Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). - We're both 0-0

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. - We're both 1.000 (CIN 1-0, BAL 2-0)

Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. - Cincinnati wins (5-1 0.833 v 5-2 0.714)

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

Strength of victory.

Strength of schedule.

Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

Best net points in common games.

Best net points in all games.

Best net touchdowns in all games.

Coin toss
Everybody we play the Ravens also play - EXCEPT for two games on each of our schedules against unique opponents from the AFC East and West. For us, it's Buffalo and Denver. For them, it's the Jets and Chargers. We are 6-2 overall, and 1-1 against our unique opponents (beat Buffalo, lost to Denver), giving us a 5-1 record against common opponents. They are 6-2 overall and 1-0 against their unique opponents (beat Jets, have not played Chargers), so they are 5-2 against common opponents. 5-1 is better than 5-2, so we win the tiebreak.
