dex
I think a lot of teams (and the league overall) are trending young. Look how many 1st and 2nd year QB's will be starting for their respective teams this season. More than ever before, I'd suspect. Plus younger players are even cheaper than before with the new CBA and rookie salary scale. Teams have more money to spend and would probably rather have youth.
Oh, I defintiely agree that the league is trending young. But I'm not even sure rebuilding teams like St. Louis. which also had a ton of draft picks in 2012, will have 11 guys with zero NFL experience on the 53 man roster. That's a ton.
Well a rule of thumb being that with 7 draft picks plus the odd CFA, you figure even a veteran team will have 5 or 6. More if they got comp picks from losing FAs. A rebuilding team would have and keep more, because their vets are bad or won't be around when the team gets good. If you figure the average NFL career is 5 years, then you turn over 10 players per year.

Bengals1181
per Joe Reedy, Vincent Rey has made the team. Between Whalen, Rey and Burfict, its not looking good for Muckelroy, who may end up being traded if not cut.

dex
So the 53 man roster at this moment, counting Cook: 26 offensive players, 24 defensive players, 3 special teamers. Is that right?

happyrid
Everything pretty close to expected. I'd have guessed no Whalen and that they'd have kept Muck. That would have given them the 25/25 split offense to defense they usually go with. But when Cook is IR'd it'll get them down to 25 on O and open up a spot, possibly for a LB. Though I'd have my money on it being an OG.
